There are plenty of fitness and wellness coaches that have college degrees and some that have made a lot of money doing it. But I don't see the point of criticizing a man's job/career that wants to help people develop physically and mentally. Especially a guy like Vaughn who was a great example in the community and represented himself and Mason very well while here.

I mean he wasn't very good at basketball, but was a really nice guy. He used to date a friend of mine while in college. Was one of the few good guys on that team of thieves and pot heads lol. No need to bash his career that a ton of college educated folks turn to.

Dude not bashing Gray. I was always amused on how all the experts on the boards would say he was so talented and couldn't figure out why he couldn't get on the court.

Congrats to Karmari Newman for his hard earned honor of Honorable Mention All-American!

"Newman excelled from the perimeter, averaging 15.9 points on 37.2% three-point shooting (108-for-290). The junior also collected 3.2 rebounds per game, while posting 48 assists, 31 steals, and one block as well. He shot 39.7% overall and 78.1% from the line.

Newman ended the year third in the NAIA in three-pointers made and fifth in three-pointers per game (3.48), while finishing fourth on WPU's single-season list in both three-pointers made and three-pointers attempted."

Maybe. Or maybe he fits their system....or does well against a lower level of competition while not so great at higher level.

Fairfax, Va. –Former longtime George Mason track and field coach Dalton Ebanks passed away Saturday in Connecticut. He was 68.

Ebanks coached at Mason for 19 years, including eight seasons as the head coach of the Patriots (1997-2005).

A native of Jamaica, Ebanks first came to George Mason in 1985 as an assistant coach with the women's team. He served in that capacity through 1990 when he became an assistant coach with the men's team. Ebanks was a member of the coaching staff that won the 1996 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship and was runner-up in the 1997 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Ebanks rose to the position of head coach in 1997 and maintained the program's strength through strong recruiting in his native country of Jamaica. During his reign, Ebanks produced an NCAA champion, numerous All-Americans and three Olympians, Diane Guthrie-Gresham (1992, 1996) and Richard Phillips (2004, 2008, 2012) representing Jamaica and Rob Muzzio (1992)."

Biography
Dr. Derek Shackelford was born in Frederick, Maryland. Dr. Shackelford graduated from Frederick Community College with an Associate in Arts Degree and from George Mason University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Masters of Divinity Degree and an earned Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary.

He is married to Reverend Charlotte Janell Shackelford and is the proud father of two children Shamara and Derin.

Community Service
Dr. Shackelford is currently the Pastor of Buckeystown United Methodist Church, CEO of City of Hope and an NCAA College Basketball Official. He was inducted into the Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame and The Frederick Community College Sports Hall of Fame. He has also served on numerous boards, commissions and non-profit organizations. Dr. Shackelford has also guest lectured at Colleges across the country and is a current member of Who’s Who in Professional Management and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
