Welcome Otis Livingston

I remember something about Otis's HS coach giving DP a glowing recommendation of Otis. Certainly, not the first time a HS coach has done that, but I think Dave knew the difference between a shill and an advocate. Really, I think Mason has to thank Otis's HS coach for sending Otis our way.

You mean his eventual transfer to Louisville?
Just this morning I was thinking that a player hasn't been as obviously a future star at Mason since Hancock.

There's just no doubt that Mar absolutely has what it takes to be a stud at this level already.

After a great week for Otis, he only gets an honorable mention for A-10 player of the week. Not downplaying the UMass guy that won as he was deserving but I would’ve thought Otis would get Co-Player of the Week.

Starting to think the A-10 hates us... still bitter that Marquise didn’t get 1st team last year.

Otis has 4 straight games with 20 or more points. Who is the last Mason player to do that? Genuine question...I don't know the answer and am unsure how to look it up without an enormous effort plowing through old box scores.

Cam Long came close in the 2009-2010 season, going 4 out of 5 games with 20+ (he went three in a row, the fourth game was 18).

Sherrod Wright in 2013-2014 season had a 4 game stretch of 20+ points, ending in 34 against then #10 St. Louis.

One of the commentator’s for the SLU game made a comparison between Otis and Steve Nash. Otis’s quickness and the way he keeps his dribble through the lane in the pick and roll lately drew the comparison.

It got me thinking about Otis’s pro potential after next year. I’ve always kinda discounted him due to his height. If he can continue to play at this level and the deep three remains in his arsenal, I could see Otis getting a look. Otis is not quite as athletic, but he also reminds me a bit of Kay Felder (maybe mostly due to his height and not being a P-5 player).

Otis is gonna get paid to play ball somewhere. Not bad for a kid who had one damn D-I scholarship offer.

No doubt (if he wants). Just a matter of what level he will play at.

I made a comment earlier this year about how I’d love to see him enter our coaching tree if he’d choose that over say playing in Europe. Given his leadership qualities, I still think he’s got a future in coaching.

Not a chance for NBA, but he’ll have a long career overseas.

Does anyone have his current ranks in scoring, assists and steals at G Mas?

It’s not that A-10 hates G Mas. They just have no cred yet.
