changing my prediction to butler

Butler is a good choice, but I've got to say I'd be a little annoyed if he chooses them only because their current coach is the guy I wanted us to hire when we fired Hewitt (of course, he'd still probably be the coach of Butler even if we did, but that's besides the point).

Best choices off of Kier's top 10 (my opinion) would obviously love him to come back to Mason 100%. Also doesn't take into account future transfers each team would have.

Butler: A They lost Baldwin to graduation and Battle to transfer so the minutes for Kier are there. They return a very decent team next year that should compete for postseason play provided they recruit some more depth. Guard position is pretty thin not including Aaron Thompson. I love the fit and think this should be 1st choice.
Wake: A-. This is not because I hope he goes here. Wake will suck next year... But they have a hole the size of Paulsen's belly at the SG position next year. He also will get the play in the ACC market against the best teams in the country night in night out. I like the fit even though I am dead sure he won't see a postseason tournament. Not too far away from family either.
Auburn: A- Would be the only senior on a very young but talented Tigers team. 1 5 star and 2 4 star young ins coming into the program that returns Okoro. This team screams surprise team in the SEC to me next year and I like their tournament chances. Has a chance to start right away with talented young blood around him.
Ole Miss: B- Decent basketball team returns with a log jam in the SG/SF area. Not a ton of minutes to go around with some pretty decent players. This team is not going to be much of a NCAA tournament threat. Kermit Davis is a great coach and is turning them around so I may be dead wrong about no tourney.
Arkansas: C- great coach in Musselman but they are very guard heavy already with a really good PG Isaiah Joe. Currently are -1 in available scholarships without Kier and I just don't see a fit. Not a shoe in to make the tournament next year by any means. They have 2 really good freshman guards coming in and unless that changes Kier shouldn't go there.
Georgetown: C- Clusterf**k squad by Patrick Ewing. Ongoing rape and home invasion allegations that saw 3 players transfer and Mac McClung enter the draft early (WTF). Tons of mins to go around for Kier if he decides to go here but the team is full of holes and I am not sure they win more than 5 Big East games next year. Ewing will be gone after the season.
Georgia B Very athletic squad that should but hasn't yet lost Anthony Edwards to the draft. Would have a chance to start right away but I do not like their chances at a NCAA tourney next year. Currently 0 scholarships available but I expect them to get one open. Not a basketball school.
Mason: B Familiar with the programs and all its ups and downs. Immediately becomes 1st or 2nd best player if injury heals correctly. Odds aren't high to make the tournament and he plays in the A10 with a lack of exposure if he does want to play basketball professionally after graduation.
NC St: C+ Keats coaches a weird style of basketball and is odd when passing out minutes. I have never been a fan of us. The GOAT Danny Dixon might help NC St's chances of landing Kier but I don't see this happening. They have 5 freshman coming in and will be extremely young with mostly unproven big men. Team is currently not nearly talented enough to truly compete in the ACC next year and Kier won't tip that scale. Lost Markell Johnson who was far and away their best player.
Minnesota: B This team needs a ton of guard play to help this season and they just lost Oturu to transfer so I think they go heavy after Udeze from Wichita St with their last open scholarship. I don't think this fits as Pitino desperately needs another big man. Next years Minnesota team should not be in the tournament.

Best choices:
Butler, Wake, Auburn, Georgia, Mason

How many of his top 10 are bound for the tournament next year? Some are definitely not.
not many. most will be protected at the bottom or near it of their conferences. If he wants to for sure go to the tourney he has like 2 choices really.

It certainly would be a big kick in the nuts if he chose anyone besides Butler, Auburn or Mason from that list.

"Justin Kier, Guard, George Mason (Immediate)
The 6’4″, 197 pound guard averaged 9.6 ppg as a ‘senior’–shooting .464 from FG and .458 from 3 PT. However, because of a foot injury, he only appeared in 9 games and gained a medical redshirt year this past season.

When fully healthy as a junior (2018-19), Kier averaged 14.5 ppg, 2.6 apg, and 6.5 rpg, as he shot .471 from FG and .371 from 3 PT during 33 games.

In his junior year, Kier was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second-Team and was also awarded the 2019 Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player:

Great summary, sleeper. Gotta say I’m surprised — it’s not as much of a no-brainer for him to leave as I thought it would be.

Also has to help us that he can’t go visit with any of the other staffs in person. Making a decision like this sight unseen can’t be easy.

Raw numbers of percent of capacity numbers (old argument from the CAA Zone days)?

Absolutely. And maybe he will also judge off the halftime entertainment plans for the upcoming season. If Mikey the Chimp comes back it has to be a done deal that Kier will too.

Butler is probably the best fit if he decides to transfer. Georgia is the dark horse -- I believe Crean and DP are very good friends.

Personally, I think he should stay at Mason.

If he wants to win I have to think that Butler is the best bet, but who really knows. Boyd and him can really become Mason legends if they finish what they started and take the program back the NCAAs.
