Jaire had 17 pts. (6-10 FG's, 3-6 3-pt. FG's, & 2-2 FT's), 3 rebounds, & a career-high 5 steals in the 97-60 victory over Longwood tonight:

Fantastic game tonight by Jaire. With his talent, size and athletic ability, there's no doubt he's capable of playing like this every game. He's been battling a sophomore slump of sorts, but he really is the wild card on this team. If he can get his confidence and focus to match his physical abilities, the sky's the limit for him and this team.

I wish my work didn't block Twitter!
I wish Pablo would post the entire Tweet rather than the link to it. Then we wouldn't have to worry about being WebSensed. He knows how to do it, he's done it before.

I'll admit it, I'm lazy and don't want to click back and forth between Masonhoops to Twitter to Masonhoops. Ack! I'm feel a migraine coming on... :bricks:

Conference stats only:

"Jaire Grayer: 13.8 points on 11 FGA, 40.7% from three, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks.

Jaire is actually leading the team in blocks and is second in rebounds in conference play. He’s also had a very nice bump in efficiency, averaging 1.25 points per shot after averaging less than 1 in the out of conference slate. All of these are welcome developments – the team gets closer to reaching its potential when Jaire scores well, and his ability to rebound and alter shots at the rim has gone a long way toward keeping the four guard lineup viable defensively."

I feel like Jaire's consistent and productive play has been glossed over a little by us. As Petey points out, Jaire has been excellent over the last 6 games or so and has probably been our most consistent player over that time.

Agreed. Last season and the early part of this year I felt like I could see Jaire thinking too hard on the court and as a result always being a half step behind. Now that he seems to be more instinctual on the court his game has really progressed. He could be really, really good the next two years if the game continues to slow down for him.

Another thing I noticed in the SLU game is that he single handedly kept 3 offensive possessions alive by crashing the boards (and I think he was the only one inside the arc each time) that each resulted in 2nd chance points. Without those effort plays we would not have been able to come back in that game.

He's had several very big offensive rebounds. In the St. Joe's game, and the Umass game I saw him come up with some big rebounds on the offensive end.

In conference play, Grayer is 14-28 behind the arc and Newman is 4-11.

Yeah with a greater volume of work Grayer is shooting 50% and Newman is shooting 36%.

So please let Grayer shoot when we need a three and not Newman.
