Welcome Jaire Grayer

He's got great bloodlines from Dad and Mom! Per the 2015 Recruiting thread:

His mom Patrice Martin was also a phenomenal basketball star as well.

She earned a college scholarship to the University of Detroit Mercy after graduating from Flint Northwestern in 1989. Martin’s career in Detroit lasted from 1989-1993 and she finished her career seventh on the program’s list for career scoring (1,362 points) and averaged 12.6 points. She is also fifth on the all-time list at UDM for best 3-Point field goal percentage (.377) and 3-point field goals (188).

Keep in mind, they were only allowed to have those summer practices last year because of the trip to Spain. They can't practice like that this year (yet).

Isn't there a rule if there is a coaching change you can have some extra practices? Or is that NFL?

I am gonna wear my silly sick Milwaukee Bucks Jeff Grayer jersey like constantly next year. Fortunately I am still in such terrific shape at age 43 I can fit into what I wore at age 16.
The only issue being my pale white skin offending people in the dead of winter of course. But f**k if I care, anyway. Not wearing an undershirt no way no how!!!
Grayer gonna tear people up in Fairfax!!!

http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/n...es-george-mason-as-best-decision-for-college/:

"FLINT, MI – Three-star basketball recruit, Jaire Grayer, was close to pursuing a post-graduate season at Don Bosco Prep in Indiana, to chase bigger college offers.

But after making the trip to Fairfax, Va. for a visit to George Mason University, the Flint guard changed his mind.

Grayer, 18, fell in love with the campus and ultimately decided to sign with the program this week. He will leave Flint to begin his college journey on Thursday, Aug. 28.

'Nobody at George Mason talked me out of going back to prep school, I just really talked to my family about the best decision,' Grayer said. 'They both were two great decisions to make, and good opportunities, but I just thought I was ready to come out and go to college.'"

"Over the summer, Grayer has trained religiously and says he’s added 15 pounds of muscle. He is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound shooting guard that wants to make an impact immediately on the college level.

'My goal is to come out this year and showcase myself,' Grayer said. 'I want to become a NBA pro.'"

"Kent State, Robert Morris, Bowling Green, Western Kentucky, Fordham, Oakland, Tennessee State and DePaul Universities all offered scholarships to Grayer, but several other Division I schools showed interest as they anticipated his return to prep school.

In the end, Grayer leaned on his parents to for advice.

His father Jeff Grayer, a Northwestern grad, had a 10-year stint in the NBA and still holds the all-time scoring record at Iowa State University. And his mother, Patrice Martin, earned a college scholarship to the University of Detroit Mercy, where she finished her career seventh on the program’s list for career scoring (1,362 points) in 1993.

'They were just talking to me about the best options,' Grayer said. 'Both of them really thought that George Mason was the best situation.'"

So now that we know for sure that Mayimba is out of the picture, I sure hope Grayer turns out to be as good as advertised -- or preferably, even better -- because we're gonna need him to contribute from Day 1.

It's a great opportunity for the young man. I'm excited to see what he does with it.

"-Freshman Jaire Grayer and DeAndre Abram seem like they will be the players on the wing this year. This happened mostly by default because of the roster turnover but both have the length and athletic ability to play at the spot. Grayer seems a little bit more ready with his size and outside shooting. However Abram definitely shows flashes on both ends. It will be interesting to watch how these two progress during the year."
