He looks a lot less lost on court right now than he did. And it’s good to see him playing defense and grabbing rebounds. A lot of his shots have been good ones, they just aren’t falling. It’s a good sign. I wish he didn’t start the year on such a poor note. We need him to be playing at his best.
I don’t have any stats to back it up, but it seems plausible that throwing Reuter into the mix has messed up the on court chemistry. Both Marr and Otis were bad to start and gotten better as Reuter’s minutes dropped. The as a whole seems to have followed the same pattern.

That sounds too simplistic of an explanation. But you might be right.

I hear you, but, I think last year's team is a perfect example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. It is very possible that no-one on last year's team would start on another A10 team and yet we finished in 5th place and have someone like Otis putting up legendary stats that will go down in Mason's record book. I think last year's team way over achieved.

Now you throw a change in the works and it could have a huge impact. We thought it was going to have a huge positive impact, but, maybe adding Reuter has done the exact opposite. Maybe it has upset the delicate balance that allowed last year's team to over achieve.

(Note this is not a criticism of Reuter, any change could have done the same).

I've been thinking this as well. Hope they can fix it.

With you 100%, Brian. This could possibly have been the very rare subtraction by addition. And I also agree it does not need to be a criticism of Jared. It's not about him, it's about the team dynamic.

This team was probably not talented enough to finish 5th in the A10, but they did. You bring the exact same team back, the only team in the country that returned all of it's scoring, and add a player. Make him a f**king starter. Give him starters minutes. Now you just COMPLETELY changed the team that busted its a** and overachieved for you. Unless that added player is an absolute superstar, you've got a 50/50 chance you just improved your team or effed it up.

Echo both your sentiments. He always gave his best effort even when he lost whatever he had freshman year.

The thing that gets me is why leave a year from graduating? Does he need a year to heal from injury? Does he have a personal issue?

Now lets see what happens with the last scholarship, does the staff go get a transfer (my first choice) or do they wait and see what happens with Kier (not my thinking), or do they try to get someone leftover in the 2020 class that was overlooked.

I don't want them to shelf it. I'd like a full team whether its a 5th frosh or a transfer in practice for a year. I'd gladly take a grad transfer too.

This is where the Otis Frazier III offer came from. The staff is clearly not looking to leave the spot open.

yeah and that makes sense. Either way I want a full team, no more holding the scholarship stuff.

Personally I think we need a grad transfer, even if it’s just someone to come be a role player for a year from a lower conference. Completely agree though if we don’t use the scholarship this season then it’s a waste.
