Welcome Goanar Mar

There is absolutely nothing for a recruit to be concerned about by seeing this discussion.

NoVa DC is the SH*T, when you are young, not tied down and making your way in the world. 24/7 lifestyle, culture, things to see things to do. Part of the reason why I "came out of the sticks" and went to Mason and stayed.

But after years of commuting and the constant hustle bustle, fight to get anywhere, etc.....we as a family with a young one were done and changed our daily life. Definitely a whole new perspective when your commute is 15 minutes and that includes stopping for coffee and still driving 12 miles.....

All true. ^^^

But I'm going to say a kid isn't going to put too much stock in the ramblings of a bunch of middle-aged guys debating the merits of access to good Vietnamese restaurants and museums vs. commute times and home values anyway.

GoMar is incredibly talented, probably the best freshman I’ve seen play for us in my 11 years watching GMU. He is going to bring our program to the next level and I’m excited about our future. Trying to keep myself level here- but bottom line is this kid can play and think he is NBA bound.

Freshman Four - Go Go Gadget Mar

In the midnight hour we scream MAR MAR MAR! Goanar definitely has it between the ears. This kid is going to major in Mechanical Engineering. He also understands the importance of having a good grasp of the game so he can be a floor general. #specialplayer

Enjoyed the interview even though it was a little hard to hear Mar at times with the audio.

"Soul less" pretty much describes NoVa. I used to really like it, but it has no appeal to me whatsoever anymore. I used to enjoy visiting a few times a year. The last few years I have tried to get out of joining my wife when she visits her family, unless there is a basketball game at the EBA, of course.

Ok I disagree with this wholeheartedly. I moved out to Aldie (Willowsford) and its a theme community built around farms and is really great by the people I have met. There is a lot of community b tased events that ties everyone together and the two large working farms in the middle of the community tie everyone to gather. Go to the VA wine country or Middldburg/Leesburg is great. Downtown Tyson's has turned into a nice spot and so has Reston.

Lack of losers. Ive lived all over this fine country, and the thing about living in Northern Virginia is that pretty much no matter where you go if you strike up a random conversation the odds are it's going to be with somebody who has a brain in their head.

Also, what is the San Diego /la area? There's a huge distance between them. Are you talking like Carlsbad?

Herndon I love you - maybe in ways that make you uncomfortable and have always respected your opinion.

However, on this point I think you might be off. Don't mistake education credential for intelligence or lack of being a loser. I know guys who didn't go to college but know own their own garage and service the expensive cars of the "educated" who are far wiser than the dolts paying him $500 to change the filter, plugs, and fluids on their Porsche.

I also no quite a few douchbags who claim an educated status but whose logic and tautology is so screwed up they are really just braying asses with a degree.

But NOVA and the metro is a beautiful, active, energetic and diverse place. But diversity includes having plenty of idiots.

You don't have to be educated to be rich or successful. I know two very successful people who's breadth of knowledge only extends to their business and little else.

One thought the Magna Carta was an Italian sports car (not kidding) and the other swore up and down that humans lived at the same time as the dinosaurs (not kidding).

I think that's what Herndon was referring to.

OK I get it. Disregard rant.

The MagnaCarta - now with disk brakes! Of course it would be an English car not an Italian one but I digress.
