I love St Louis. I also love Memphis. Both great cities with lots to do.

Some of you need to get out more.

Both have sections of town that are nice to visit - Memphis, in particular, has Beale St., Gibson factory, Sun Studios, mud island, Grizzlies etc.

To say it's a great city is a bit of a stretch. It had to vote it's school district out of existence because of its inability to educate children despite being the highest paid teachers in the state, it has a long and embarrassing history of political corruption and it has some of the most dangerous parts of town in the country.

Yeah, well... when I go down to Memphis for the weekend, I'm not hanging out in the schools, I'm normally on Beale, at a Griz or Redbirds game. Quick trip to Tunica for some table games. The people have always been friendly and the food is outstanding.

Every city is great to visit, even most small ones (Iowa City is pretty cool for a weekend, so long as you aren't going in January).

Agreed. Every city has a unique feel to it and most are really cool to visit. In 2003 I went on a 3 month tour of the country visiting 35 US States. One of the funnest, most memorable trips of my life (And I'm quite the world traveler).

The diversity of landscapes and micro cultures in this country are truly amazing.

And even though, I had a great time, I really began to appreciate the Northern Virginia area and realized what a great place it really is to live and work.

We came to realize what an soul less rat race NoVa was to live and work in compared to other areas we visited across the country. Other than Mason games, there isn't anything I miss.

I still love to visit....but no need to live in it.....

"Soul less" pretty much describes NoVa. I used to really like it, but it has no appeal to me whatsoever anymore. I used to enjoy visiting a few times a year. The last few years I have tried to get out of joining my wife when she visits her family, unless there is a basketball game at the EBA, of course.

I'm one of those who also left NoVA and haven't looked back. My dad still lives in Fairfax and I'd love to make it back for Homecoming now that the kids are a little older and loosely understand the concept of shutting the f*ck up for 5 minutes.

I've lived in five different states and in 4 of the top 10 metropolitan areas (D.C., Houston, Miami, Phoenix), and they all pretty much have that same feeling in one respect or the other.

I'm probably moving into the L.A./San Diego region next year or the year after, too, so that should be fun.

For what it's worth, D.C. itself has a very unique feeling to it, something you won't get anywhere else in the country. But, yeah, suburbs are suburbs are suburbs.

NoVa is one of the top US locations for ethnic food due to the diversity of the population. When I visit I try to plan my visit around new food experiences.

Lack of losers. Ive lived all over this fine country, and the thing about living in Northern Virginia is that pretty much no matter where you go if you strike up a random conversation the odds are it's going to be with somebody who has a brain in their head.

Also, what is the San Diego /la area? There's a huge distance between them. Are you talking like Carlsbad?

It's really a lack of regional flavor, I think. The other major cities I've lived in -- Houston, Miami, Phoenix -- it's hard to compare those cities in terms of unique cultural and regional flavor to NOVA. Washington, D.C. is a special place, though, it really is, but part of the problem is with NOVA and D.C. is that transit into D.C. is god awful from that side of the Potomac. Absolutely, there are gems of places around the Beltway for sure. But to make a life there can be pretty tough, especially the further out from D.C. you get.

As for what this has to do with Moanar Gar? It's the offseason, that's what.
