Bump...

It's Monday. Everyone's back in town. Not a peep...

Campus is closed due to snow. But even if it weren't, I think there's a low probability of a big announcement emerging any time soon. That's not to say there won't be "conversations" occurring as Jolley states/"hopes".

What if next season the admin. says "we sucked this year because we are a young, inexperienced team."? Will they just keep coming up with new excuses every year until there isn't a single fan in the Patriot Center?

Kind of hard to say that when half your roster are juniors and seniors not to mention two sophomores who both started the last 18-20 games of last season. We will be plenty experienced next year. A good program has seniors graduating all the time, but has guys ready to step in and take over the reigns. If Hewitt can't win with Holloway, Moore, Jenkins, Copes, Gray, Marko, and Julian he never will.

If you're counting, that's a seven man rotation not even counting Edwards or any of the freshman.

No excuses!

I don't disagree with you. I just wouldn't at all be shocked if that excuse is tossed around after losses or long losing streaks next season.

We had an experienced team this season and after the SLU losses Hewitt mentioned that "SLU has a veteran team so they make plays". Just wouldn't be surprised to hear a lot of different excuses next year if we start losing a lot.

F Bozo and his stupid excuses. Unless we dance next season, his a** should be toast.

Nearly half of the teams in the A10 made the NCAA tournament.

Making the NCAA tournament isn't as much to ask as it was when we were in the CAA. Thus the NIT is DEFINITLEY not too much to ask.

So if we do not make either next year and Hewitt is still our Head Coach, well then fellas, we are majorly f**ked. It will be a clear indication that TOC and Angel Cabrera do not care about basketball at Mason.

And the Mason community? Please. noone will put pressure on these ingrates to make any real change.

Of course all this is IF he is still the coach beyond next year despite not making the NIT or NCAA tournament. If a change is made, well then there is hope.

And by dance you mean the NCAA tourney, not the NIT, I assume.

So, can we hold this thread in abeyance until the Monday following the 2015 A10 tourney?
I am OK with him being here another year. He will have "his guys." Then can him -

Here is the issue with the wait and see approach: I don't think they are getting much pressure right now. They are still deluded into thinking last year was good and that this year was because of Arledge leaving and moving to the A10 (and a host of other excuses). I wouldn't be surprised for next year to go as bad as this year and then act surprised that people are clamoring for his job. Then your at the renew or he is a lame duck point. Given he is such a nice guy, I could see him getting a three year extension since he will have only been recruiting A10 talent for two years at that point. He needs five years in the A10 to get his A10 guys in place...

These things don't turn on a dime. So, If you think next year should be make or break, no more excuses, I suggest you speak up immediately so they are already thinking about it and ready to do something when next year ends. Otherwise you have no reason to complain. Most fans have gone away quietly and the school assumes those are the run of the mill come when we are winning crowd and they will come back as soon as Hewitt starts winning (LOL). Honestly, I am as disappointed with our fan base (for not putting pressure on them) as I am with the school. Why would they change the coach if they are not getting serious pressure to do so?

I have informed the AD and the president that I am done with supporting the team for at least as long as Hewitt is the coach. At this point, I don't think anything is going to change. I only hope it helps those of you that remain to make the case next year when you are experiencing déjà vu.

Call me a bandwagon fan or other insults if it makes you feel better, it does not matter to me. If you only want people that support the team with no questions asked, then you get what you deserve. Those of you who know me know I have supported the team through thick and thin and gone to soooo many road games that no one expected us to win because I enjoyed it and wanted to show support for the team. I have supported the Men's basketball team because I enjoyed it and as a benefit I got to support some hard working kids and the school as whole. Because of that, I could overlook some of the other things I disagree with. I don't enjoy this hideous thing that Hewitt has turned our team into that has zero identity. And, I can support hard working kids and the school in much more effective ways, should I choose to do so.

So, I have made my decision. I will no longer support something operated so poorly. I am going to put my support behind something where my support is utilized more wisely. As Tom recently suggested, like breaking up with a girl friend, I am going to make a clean break from all things Mason (I get to binge eat ice cream, thought, right?). I have enjoyed my time on here bantering back and forth. Call me when Hewitt is gone. If I have not found something else to commit my support to by then, maybe I'll come back.

Goodbye and good luck!

I'm going to miss you, Brian. We've enjoyed some great times in Dayton, Indy, Denver, Cleveland and even a few of our many trips to Richmond. We've laughed, we've cried, we've cheered, we booed, but most of all we had a great time.

Let me know if you want my family to swing by and pick up your kids for a few games next season. I know they both going — win or lose — and I'd hate for them to miss out just because you aren't happy.

I too will miss you Brian...there was never a road trip where you weren't on the bus. I also enjoyed the post game chats in the section 117 portal, even though it seemed like we were always discussing losses. And I admire the tough love you are showing for the program. Good luck and I hope you get that ZL1.
