3-8 from the ft line. ouch.

didn't play on wed. when gabon got worked by egypt. they could've used him when they got outscored 39-3 in the 2nd quarter... http://www.fiba.com/afrobasket/2015/1908/Egypt-Gabon

doesn't look like mighty gabon will advance so hopefully he'll be able to make it back before classes start......
I watched the clip from that game as well, where there are few shots of him. He looked disinterested, which doesn't comport with the hyper-defensive specialist reports I have heard of him. Even on a fast break, he was running at half speed when a teammate passed to him. I wonder what the deal is.

Hey, the stands are empty! Makes the Patriot Center on a midweek snowy evening opposite an NFL game look like standing room only!

The guy committed to George Mason nearly two years ago, (because he liked it), stays faithful to his school all this time, finishes his first year successfully both athletically and academically, and now he is caught on video (gasp) actually playing basketball. The NCAA isn't going to like this one bit.

My above post should be read with a touch of sarcasm. Mayimba is exactly the type of guy the NCAA likes to push around. They've got him on an obsolete transcript issue, and next they will be checking if he's drank expired milk and if thats a violation. The nice guy is finishing last, can't they find a bigger fish than this to fry?

Mayimba led the team with 7 boards today in loss to Cameroon... also had 5 pts... in just under 15 minutes.

"He is still listed as a player on the GoMason.com roster and on FIBA with George Mason as his 'club team'. We have reached out to Athletics about the eligibility status of Mayimba but, they 'have no news from the NCAA'"

What a luxury it would be to actually have a beat writer covering the team who could contact the NCAA about this. I doubt the NCAA would even respond, but it's ridiculous that there is absolutely no accountability on this whatsoever.

I guarantee this wouldn't have dragged on this long if it was a Maryland or Georgetown player being held in limbo, because the Post would have written several articles justifiably calling the NCAA out on its arbitrary rulings and double standards.

they dragged their feet long enough w/ syracuse that this kid had to go juco or be forced to leave the US. granted, the ncaa seems to hate syracuse right now so your md/georgetown point could still be valid. at least mayimba is enrolled so it won't be a student visa issue that sends him to a 2 year school.

not sure how this type of stuff is an issue, but it's ok for kids to 'reclass' to get to college sooner like the duke pg just to fill a need when a bunch of guys all leave to go pro at once.
