To bring back an age old debate, we were seeded 12th in the tourney. Since we lost in the play in game, we actually finished last, or 13th. Right?

The Paul Hewitt situation reminds me Greg Robinson in charge of Syracuse football. Just an awful, awful HC - though Robinson has proven he is a good assistant. Anyway, despite SU football being second fiddle to SU basketball by a large margin - the SU football fan base certainly put a lot of pressure on the AD to get rid of Robinson.

Obviously, SU's football fanbase is a lot larger than GMU's basketball fanbase. Robinson got 4 years and I just looked it up - finished 10-37.

SU football is a lot like GMU basketball in that it is highly doubtful SU will ever experience top-10 type seasons like they did in the late 80's, but they certainly can be respectable with the right coach. I think they've had 3 of 4 winning seasons since Robinson left. They've done enough to demonstrate that the program is heading in the right direction.

I've really rambled on this one. The point is, GMU is likely never going to another FF, but there is no way they shouldn't be at least respectable with the right coach.

Speaking of practice facilities, I poked fun a month ago that Delaware had built a practice facility two years ago and they hadn't won a CAA title ever. Well........

U of Houston is almost done with a $120M practice facility. Their Final Four was 20 years prior to ours......

It doesn't matter. He's most likely out of a job now that Stan Heath just got fired.

If Hewitt does stay, maybe we can let one of the other assistants go and bring Wells back. I like what he brings with his his scouting and coaching experience in the NBA.

Heath was 33 games below .500 at USF while making both the NCAA and NIT once during his seven seasons.

Similar to how someone said Pecorra was the worst coach in the A10, and we have now lost to his team twice this year. I was going more for the topic of this thread being about Paul Hewitt and pointing out that we lost to a team coached by a guy that is being fired.

That loss seemed to set the tone for the rest of the season. Team couldn't deal with adversity that game and the rest of the reason. I was furious after that game, but pretty just numb after the rest of our silly losses. 5-2 to begin the year, 6-18 the remainder. 6 and MF'in 18. Just inexcusable.

That was a fun time. It was nice to have a chance to talk to a coach when he was not completely on guard.
