Survey about Mason basketball

Consider yourself lucky that there are Mason professors who evidently couldn't care less about Mason men's basketball.
Bravo! I am so excited to see someone actually use this phrase correctly! It annoys me so much when people say "could care less" which means the exact opposite of what they really intend </rant>

There could be professors that could care less, and professors that couldn't care less. I could care less about your comment, but since I couldn't care less about your comment, I decided i could comment.

Anyone else get some chuckles out of the fact that "disgruntled" was the first person to like wijg's rant on "could care less" vs. "couldn't care less"? I feel like disgruntled has to like everyone's rant.

Also, my dad received an email from Andy Ruge in response to his email which he sent in lieu of the survey. I thought that was good of the AD's office to do. Shows that they are actually reading what people are saying, or at least responding to their emails.

That's really encouraging that Andy Ruge emailed him. That means this isn't a survey by some student for a class, but an actual survey used by the athletic department. Things certainly seem to be going in a positive direction.

My thoughts exactly. I'm increasingly confident this is the year our misery ends. I've also been more and more impressed with Mason's presence on Facebook. They are actually churning out some decent videos. Maybe things are finally changing? New president, new AD, new direction...?

I appreciate the survey, but I'm not convinced that it will have any bearing on whether Hewitt is retained for a 5th season. I also appreciate that Andy Ruge has always made himself available to interact with the fans at every home game.

But, is there any question how angry most of us are due to the decline of the men's basketball program? And, surely, the school doesn't need a marketing research survey to ascertain this.

If they were clueless in hiring Hewitt, or allowing the hiring etc, we cant totally trust them. Even if ToC and Mertrn are gone.

This is unfair to everyone else in the AD. You can't blame them for a hiring process they were almost certainly not involved in at all. I have confidence that BE will hire a search firm and find a qualified candidate.

You probably right it is unfair. But its most unfair to the players. They deserved better. Fans too.

Pablo, although I'm with you on the level of anger or at least disappointment that most of us feel, I disagree on the need for a marketing survey. Data presumably taken from a wider sample of season ticket holders trumps subjective rants on a message board, no matter how heartfelt. And there are parts of the game day experience (i.e. Doc Nix) that are first-class and worthy of positive comment. The contrast with team performance is obviously striking.

Yes, Doc Nix and the Green Machine is great. And, we're proud that the cheerleaders and the Masonettes successfully compete at the national level. In contrast, Davidson has a small pep band and no cheerleaders. But, guess which fans enjoy the games more?

I think what everyone agrees on is the fact that we all see the potential all aspects of the program have with the right leadership in place. Obviously performance on the court is paramount, but it's certainly not a bad think to have top notch ancillary areas surrounding the product on the court.

I answered this survey with such vitriol and venom on what needed to be done - I am concerned that the bourbon might have muddled my message.

I know this thread / and the survey is two years old, but does anyone have any insight on survey results or actions the AD might have taken based on the results (other than firing Hewitt:cigar:)?

Someone on here has to have some sources right?
