Season tickets 2014-15

I have a compromise that might work for everyone: Come to as many games as possible, yell like madmen for each player, then stand still as a stone when the PA guy introduces the coach.

I'm not buying tickets to go see Paul Hewitt. I've already made it perfectly clear that I believe he sucks as a coach. Like you and many others, I would've preferred that he was fired after last season.

But if 7,000 fans are going berserk during player introductions and the PatDome falls completely silent when the coach is announced, I've gotta think that will be a loud and clear statement about where we all stand.

Just a thought.

By the end of last season, it certainly appeared to me that very few fans were applauding for Hewitt.

I'll be honest, being stalked by 49ers guy has left a bad taste in my mouth. I truly fear he seeks to leave a bad taste in my mouth, perhaps even kill your beloved Jollay.

That, combined with the rise of the Ebola and me having to work most game nights till 7 this year has me considering a one year hiatus and just coming to weekend games--not purchasing season.

But we'll see.

If I lived in the area, I would purchase season tickets in a heartbeat. I'll make it down for a few games.

What truth exactly are you patting yourself on the back for sharing with us? You don't think we know our program is down and that Hewitt has greatly underperformed? Supporting the team does not mean we endorse what is happening.

You accuse people here of being deluded, and then you compare buying a $20,000 car to a $200 season ticket. Trust me, the amount of people who support the program or boycott the program this year will have no bearing whatsoever on whether Hewitt is retained.

You and others jumped on me when I pointed out the truth that it is the people leaving who push the administration to make a change. Where did I pat myself on the back? You are the one patting yourself on the back talking about "true" fans.

If you can't understand the analogy of the car company, it is probably useless to debate anything with you, but I'll try one more time. You can substitute car for something less expensive, say a soda like coke, and the point is the same.

I agree that the supporters/boycotters will not have an effect this year, that was not the point. The point was that if everyone boycotted (not just a few) there would have been a change. If you can handle a simple mental exercise, imagine if all 5,000 (roughly our average attendance from memory including season tickets and others) fans told the school during this past season that they were not coming back because of Hewitt. I think there is a very good chance we would already have a new coach. On the flip side, if we sold out the arena and the fans said they wanted to keep Hewitt regardless of his performance this coming year, I have little doubt that he would get a renewal.

I am not telling anyone to boycott tickets or to go and buy tickets. I am just pointing out that the people who have decided to not buy tickets don't deserve the criticism that many on here sling at them (directly or indirectly) and on the converse those of us buying tickets are not deserving of any special praise either.

If it makes some of you feel good to hoist the "true fan" flag, go right ahead. I'll stop posting on the point.

Except almost 80 percent of the athletics budget is subsidized by the students so your whole theory is useless (there is not a donor base large enough to affect change the way you think it would).

Put it another way, a single win in the NCAA tournament is worth more than all the season ticket holders combined. So the incentive to improve or change is baked in already.
Ah yes, and you are the one that is all for taking from the struggling students to subsidize those downtrodden members of the golf team. To continue that point, I suggest you look at how much money is spent on salaries of patriot club staff and athletic department staff.

If we go with your NCAA tournament point, then we definitely should have gotten rid of Hewitt this year. We will be back to the NCAA sooner the sooner we get rid of Hewitt.

Except that again Hewitt's buyout is bigger than the money our entire athletic department raised. So I'm no sure what you would expect us to get in terms of a coach. We could get lucky and get an up and comer on the cheap who pans out or we could wind up like UNCW and go on a death spiral (if you really want to see what happens to a program who looses almost all of it's season ticket holders look no further than our former conference mates Wilmington).

By the end of last season, it certainly appeared to me that very few fans were applauding for Hewitt.

There were a fair amount of "golf claps" and people clapping just because they thought that's what they were supposed to do. At least in my section. Patrick and Jalen (and sometimes Marquise) got the largest cheers when they were announced.

Probably that guy that always claps softly while a Mason player is shooting free throws. Anyone know who I'm talking about? Section 117

This coming season will be like Porn... you know it's bad but you just can't stop watching. Mason Basketball is my addiction.

Looking forward to another year...

My work travel schedule is hectic and I'd be missing more games then I could attend so I'll continue to be purchasing single game tickets from the Mason Exchange site. Last year there was a plethora of great seats available. Thinking that won't change this year. I'm also banking on another near death illness from Tom :vomit:.

Haha, that worked out pretty well for you last year. Although I'm happy to report I am fully recovered, I will keep you in mind if I need to miss a game due to business travel. I hate to see my tickets go to waste, even when the team sucks.
