Season tickets 2014-15

I'm saving my money so I can afford great seats when we get a new coach.

Still plan to attend as many home games as the schedule will allow next season, though. Not sure why, given the direction of the program, but I can't throw in the towel on Mason hoops.

Renewed. I understand fans not wanting to spend their money on a losing product (look at the crowd at any Phillies game this season), but I think someone visiting a George Mason basketball message board in late July should fit into the category of being a diehard fan who hopefully holds season tickets.

Similar to what Tom said, I've got too many years invested in this program to walk away now. Nobody is more concerned about the direction of the program than me, but this program has seen hard times before and I stayed loyal. I actually think this years team will be the most fun team in the Hewitt era to watch, very athletic and 6 new faces to get to know. If you set the bar as low as I am this season, it might actually be a fun season to watch. Having a new AD also makes me feel better about the program going forward.

I am out this year, Having a 2 YO and living in Sterling, really does't work to well.

Anyone know if you can get back the $'s from selling your tickets on mymasonnation, if you are not buying new season tickets. Last I read was that the proceeds from those ticket sales have to be used within your account (no cash out).

I admire the dedication you all have to be season ticket holders and make it to all the games.

Even though I lived ten minutes away from campus before moving some Wednesday or Thursday night games I couldn't motivate myself to get over to see GMU-Harvard or GMU and a bad Towson or UNCW team.

Loyalty has very little to do with it. Those of us that continue to go to games even when poor decisions are made should be thankful to those who do stop coming. If they did not stop coming, there would be very little pressure to change.

If everyone canceled their season tickets, we'd probably have a new coach already and have begun the upward path instead of being stuck with Hewitt for one more year.

So it is great that some of us want to keep watching even when we suck, but don't delude yourself into thinking that is good for the program in the long run.

Name one person here who claimed that by going to the games we are deluding ourselves into thinking it's good for the program in the long run. I go because I like watching college basketball and supporting my alma mater, not to make some grandiose statement. And I'll never be thankful to alumni who turn their back on the program as some kind of protest. All they are doing is spiting themselves and the players.

Brad Edwards will make his decision on the program moving forward based to the product on the court, not on whether the attendance fluctuates. Hell, our attendance only went up 2,000 after our historic Final 4 run and then dropped again when Coach L was still here, so it's not like we've ever had a loyal fan base even in the best of times.

The one and only reason I continue to buy tickets is to support our players.

I have thought on several occasions that it would make a real statement if we only had 500 people show up for a home game, and I am squarely with the camp who wants a change of head coach sooner than later.

But I could never in good conscience bail on the kids -- none of whom have a say in the coaching decisions. Most of them are working hard and doing their best to become successful on the court and in the classroom.

I think giving the players our full-throated support, win or lose, is actually good for the program in the long run. It shows that our entire fan base isn't comprised of fair-weather jerks who abandon ship when the going gets rough.

I dont understand...even with traffic, or limited time, or anything else.....how you dont even head to the games you can. It's Mason Basketball......love it or leave it.

Even I will watch and listen online when I can. And in the worst of times....I sat and watched the horror unfold on the court, becuase, I love Mason basketball.

However in protest, my Hewitt voodoo doll will still be stuck mulitple times throughout games.

The only way Hewitt would have been fired before this season would be if he had violated some serious NCAA rule or he was caught drunk off his a** at a frat party. With TOC in charge it was never going to happen.

Wow, this board is a good sample of our world as whole in that people don' like to hear the truth. I am just the messenger here.

It is basic psychology (I would hope some of you took that at Mason). If you get rewarded for bad behavior, you keep doing it. If you like a car company and they are creating a bad product, you are not helping them in the long run by buying their crappy cars. You may feel good about yourself by staying loyal, but you should not act as those who stopped buying the cars are to be criticized. They are the only reason the car company will eventually consider improving their product.

I'll keep buying tickets because I like games and it makes me feel good. Going to games does not deserve admiration, it is not a sign of your loyalty nor should you congratulate yourself for not walking away, or being a true fan. Just as those who don't buy tickets shouldn't be derided, whether it is directly or indirectly (by calling it walking away, using the term true fan, etc.). I was just pointing out that those that don't by tickets are helping those of us that do. We still get to keep watching Mason basketball, but if enough of them do stop coming, it will force the school (and we are already seeing signs of it with recent changes) to make changes for the better. It is win-win for us. If you don't understand that, then you are deluding yourselves, whether you want to admit or not.

Keep patting yourselves on the back...I'll find a lollipop and send one to each of you.

Except almost 80 percent of the athletics budget is subsidized by the students so your whole theory is useless (there is not a donor base large enough to affect change the way you think it would).

Put it another way, a single win in the NCAA tournament is worth more than all the season ticket holders combined. So the incentive to improve or change is baked in already.

Wow, this board is a good sample of our world as whole in that people don' like to hear the truth.

What truth exactly are you patting yourself on the back for sharing with us? You don't think we know our program is down and that Hewitt has greatly underperformed? Supporting the team does not mean we endorse what is happening.

You accuse people here of being deluded, and then you compare buying a $20,000 car to a $200 season ticket. Trust me, the amount of people who support the program or boycott the program this year will have no bearing whatsoever on whether Hewitt is retained.
