Maybe he thought that with Vaughans transferring and Okoloji seemingly falling out of favor there would be a greater chance for an expanded role this year.

That didn't pan out and I have no idea why Okoloji is in rotation and Gray is not.

Neither does the coach.

From what I have seen of VG he should be a starter - AO should be in warm ups and Wright should come off the bench given his recent performance. I would like to see the starting line up be Jenkins, Moore, JW, VG, and BA

I don't know about starting Gray, but I definitely think he should get his minutes. J2 shouldn't start and I'm glad he's not. Copes has actually played okay recently and has shown some progress.

Unless I'm mistaken, Vaughn Gray has not missed any games in his career due to illness or injury. But, today's game vs. GW was the 30th game that Vaughn has not played (including the 3-game suspension last season). I really thought that when Patrick Holloway picked up his 2nd foul in the first half today, Gray would get to play. But, Holloway played with 2 fouls in the first half, & Gray never got in the game.

2011-12:
Games played: 32
Games DNP: 1

2012-13:
Games played: 16
Games DNP: 22

2013-14:
Games played: 13
Games DNP: 7

Based on how he's treated Gray, we now know that our coach is quite good at two things: Playing favorites and holding an F'ing grudge.

I don't blame Gray's brother for going off on Twitter. Vaughn has had almost as many DNPs as the walk-ons the last 2 years, but Copes and AO keep getting into games for some reason.

The only way I'd take Hewitt's side was if he was getting results - which he ain't. Oh well, I imagine TOC is satisfied with the wrestling team's defeat of Franklin & Marshall.

I was shocked that Gray did not transfer after last season. I have no idea why he stayed after spending last year in Hewitt's dog house. This coach is SO SO frustrating. I hope Gray finds greener pastures elsewhere. He will never find it here as long as Hewitt remains the "coach."

Here's my thing: Put him in the game for 5-7 minutes. If he's missing shots and zoning out on D, take him out and that's that.

To not give him any PT on a team that's struggling this badly smacks of spite.

Cue Jollay to tell me I'm being ignorant and unreasonable.

Vaughn Gray = Babe Laufenberg

That's BS and you know it.

Laufenberg was never talented enough to be a full-time starting NFL QB.

Gray obviously has had his issues, but he's talented enough to have some kind of role other than bench-warmer for a winless A-10 team.

My pt. was more about how people clamor for this guy without even knowing if he can play. Skin Fan loved Babe cause he didn't play, but all seemed to think he could if given an opp. Why not pull for Michael Rudy to get some PT as well? Are we sure he can't play for this team either?

Your entire premise is invalid. I do know that Gray can play very well because I've seen it with my own eyes.

I also know that he doesn't deserve to be glued to the bench like a walk-on who, if he had the skills to be playing at this level, would've received a scholarship from us or someone else.

Why he's not playing, I have no clue. But he obviously hasn't done anything to warrant getting thrown off the team, and to see him sitting there as we lose game after game makes no damn sense whatsoever.

I guess I'll just chalk it up to another dumb decision by a coach known for dumb decisions.

I'll say it.

Its not about playing. Its personal from last year or something else.

If it wasn't, then AO would be getting walk on playing time.

I found it very odd that Gray was signing autographs after the game. All the kids were like "who's that guy?" It was also very strange that Skeeters was signing autographs. Not one of the kids wanted a coach's autograph. My son asked me if we could skip him...

I agree with Jim. Its at the point, and has been at the point where Gray no matter how bad he could be should be getting run. AO is an absolute train wreck yet he continues to get tossed out there. I am 100% positive that Vaughn Gray could at the very least give us what AO gives us. Holloway is limited on both ends due to his size, and Im pretty sure Gray could give us the exact same as Holloway most games. Why he is still glued to the bench makes no sense.

This just smells of a personal issue and its BS. Were 0-6 in the A10, were not good enough to have our crappy coach not playing guys who could help us because he wants to stick it to him.

Exactly. If I remember correctly, it was Gray's two 3s late in the second half against vcu that gave Sherrod the chance to make that miracle buzzer-beater in the first place.

He hit 40% of his 3s his freshman year and is shooting close to 40% from 3 this year and yet when we're down and need some baskets to get back into it, Hewitt taps Okoloji. It makes no sense.

Actually, Vaughn Gray did not attempt a 3-pointer in Mason's 62-61 over vcu. However, he made a critical FG with 11 seconds remaining in the game. Gray has the 2nd highest career 3-pt. FG% on the team (Corey Edwards has the highest). Interestingly, Corey didn't play against GW either.

I am by no means a Redskin fan, but this reminds me of the Fred Davis situation.

When Jordan Reed went out, you have a guy who can help your team and has shown he can, but due to personal issues with the coach he is inactive. Granted Im not saying Gray is a pothead like Davis, but its a very similar situation.

Much like the Skins, Mason is not good enough of a team to waste talent on the bench that can help us out for some spat a coach has with a player.

I have it on good authority that Edwards is just gutting out all sorts of injuries...thus limiting PT and effectiveness.
