UMASS with a MASS exodus today: Chris Baldwin, Malik Hines and Rayshawn Miller all transfer... Malik Hines is definitely the best of the 3 and leaves them without a big man since Rasean Holloway should still be academically ineligible since he came into college as a partial qualifier and has been suspended 2 times for not making grades. 6 foot 8 true freshman Sy Chatman is their only big
Edit they have Khalea Turner Morris returning as a big but his hands of stone and lack of footwork make Danny Dixon look good lol

Former west springfield hs big and all state standout, Lewis Djonkam, is transferring from vcu. 6'9 245. Any chance paulsen makes a play for him.

Nope. Even if we were interested, I’m sure his release is only permitted to a team out of the conference. Kid has great size though.

things I've learned this off-season:

- UMASS has been decimated by transfers....They might only have Pipkins and Tre Wood on their roster next year..aren't they scheduled to get their big man back from academic suspension?
- Dayton has been surprisingly good this spring. Landed a good recruit, a solid transfer, and have a chance to get the Greek freak's brother back, all while shedding themselves of bench players who played minimally. Nice roster reconstruction by Coach Grant.
- Richmond could've been top 3 next year with Fore and Buckingham. Now that they have transferred/or booted? Who knows. Sherod and Golden are their only players.
- Fordham should already fire their coach, before they even play a game next year. Dude is awful.. and Chartouny leaving is gonna make that team horrible next year.
- LaSalle could be good in 2 years. solid recruits and a 4-star PG transfer from South Carolina (including big man Jared Kimbrough who chose them over us) who have appeared to stay with their NLI's
- GW's program is in disarray. Made an awful decision to remove interim tag from their coach a few years ago.
- Davidson is the class of the A10. Great coach. Great players. Fun to watch.
- SLU will make move up the A10 rankings. Great recruiting class next year with 4-start home town recruit big-man
- vcu is not recruiting to the level they have recruited for the last 10 years. I'm not sure if vcu is as dominant as they once were. Rhodes could be a good coach, maybe he will turn it around with the hiring of Jamal Brunt as an Assistant, who left Coach L and Miami, to return to Richmond? that move made no sense.
- Duquesne is undergoing a roster upheaval. players coming and going. who knows how they will be?
- St. Joe's is re-loading. They should be tough for years to come.
- Rhody brings in a bunch of good recruits to blend with returning guards Fatts Russell and Dowtin. New Coach...new philosophy. will keep an eye on them.
- Bonnie...they should be happy they finally made the big dance last year. Not sure if they have a good roster or not. They looked tough last year.
- Mason adds a solid player in backup PG...Hope he doesn't pull a Relvao and get homesick during his years at Mason though.

P8's very early preseason Top 6:

1) Davidson, 2) SLU, 3) Mason, 4) Saint Joes', 5) vcu, 6) Rhody

Middle of the pack teams:

7) Dayton, 8) Richmond, 9) St. Bonnie, 10) UMASS

Wasting their fans' money:

11) LaSalle, 12) Duquesne 13) GW 14) Fordham

Couple things... First I bet you 1 million dollars Duquesne finishes top 10... They have a completely new roster but their coach had 5 guys sit out last year for redshirting as transfers and they are all going to be pretty damn good. I can see them top 5.... Otherwise... Not sure how UMASS can be behind Richmond. They still have roster spots to fill but have a nice 3-4 players that will most assuredly move them to top 7 next year... Also not sure how St Joe's is reloading.. The only two good returning players they have sport an injury history rivaling Greg Oden's. They signed one freshman recruit and have Ryan Daly redshirting.. Unless you believe in Taylor Funk which I don't they will push out of the top 7

re: Saint Joseph's...do you know how good Lamar Kimble is? He is a stud, as good as Otis is for us. too bad he's been injured.

I put Richmond ahead of UMASS because I actually like Mooney as a Coach better than I do McCall at UMASS. Plus, I think Grant Golden is a stud down low. Anything they have on the perimeter is just gravy.

Duquesne in Top 10? ok, maybe if Bonnie and LaSalle slips. Top 5? laughable. When has Duquesne been good at anything?

I think St. Joes will be top 6, possibly top 4 depending on how things shake out.

Don’t think Davidson is a clear favorite, though. Losing Aldridge (and even Magarity) will change the complexion of that team. They should be one of the favorites, though.

I had UMass being a top 4 contender, but that team gets worse every day with new defections, so who knows. Richmond, too.

Laughable man... how good Otis could be if he was ever the 4th best player on his team... Imagine Otis being able to play with talent like James Demery, Deandre Bembry and Shavar Newkirk lol... seriously overestimating this dude. Guy has had two really bad injuries the last two years but all of a sudden when he is the ace of the team they are going to finish top 4... just not buying it.

and you can wait and see on Duquesne. Keith Dambrot is a top 5 coach in this league.. not your Duquesne of the past that is for sure. they are more likely to finish top 5 than 12th where you have them.. that is for sure

Yeah, I can’t say that Kimble and Brown are upgrades over Newkirk and Demery in any way.

Here’s a crazy one: Michael Gilmore, who began his career at vcu, is expected to finish his career as a grad transfer at vcu, source told ESPN. Had a brief stop at Miami, and played at Florida Gulf Coast last season.

He sucks and is a head case. The fact that vcu is desperate enough to take him back fills me with joy.
