Exactly. But will the Mason powers that be listen and perhaps change this awful logo, or at least give us a better alternative, or reinstate a classic Quill or GMU? And admit they fouled up? Not holding my breath.
The member's mark maze doesn't seem to make sense. We are much better at creating mazes.Sam’s Club :shakes hand: GMView attachment 2316
I've never been one to understand or follow determinants of "fashion", but from the 3 other examples shown in this link, just using the school's initial(s) is apparently an official "thing". Like bell bottoms, skinny jeans, wide ties, eyewear frames, these all will pass with time and likely come back again given the whimsy of whomever the fashion gods are.
I resigned myself to the fact that this is a done deal, so I'm also finding more important things at which to spew my hate (like McDonalds for stopping breakfast service so early). So, am I softening on my hatred of the design? Not on the execution, but on the concept.
The smaller the better.I resigned myself to the fact that this is a done deal, so I'm also finding more important things at which to spew my hate (like McDonalds for stopping breakfast service so early).
I will never buy anything with the new giant GM, not out of protest but because it just looks bad. However, I did see a black Adidas polo with a smaller green/yellow GM that not only looked tolerable but — to quote Larry David, the king of curmudgeonry — "pretty, pretty good."
First Curb ends and now this. Not a good year so far.I resigned myself to the fact that this is a done deal, so I'm also finding more important things at which to spew my hate (like McDonalds for stopping breakfast service so early).

Yeah, that rebranding explanation is ridiculous. The old saying "Once you start explaining, you're losing," sure holds true here.Logo could be somewhat fixable: stick with the gold on the outside and make it trim rather than three lines of equal thickness. It fixes the “I see a C and not a G” problem and it fixes the “I see a maze” problem. It does not fix the “It’s a boring font” problem or “interlocking G and M doesn’t work visually” problem, but fixing two out of the four big issues with the new logo isn’t bad and they can keep all the gobbledygook rebranding language.
I know I am pedantic on this, but, one of the the goals of the rebranding, I thought, was to have some consistent/universal logo usage and not the proliferation of options. Ignoring that it is so bad that they had to have 17 different versions so it would work on all backgrounds, the hat seems to me to go against multiple logo guidelines on the official branding site. That seems to immediately defeat one of the main goals. That hat is poop. Other stuff not as bad, but mediocre at best.
It is so weird how a lot of the stuff has the Adidas logo almost as big as our new one. And of course the TM elsewhere...just wow.
BTW campus police has been alerted to possible shenanigans. So don't try campus shenanigans. I certainly wouldnt.

* The GM monogram ... may not be used alone on materials. I don't agree with this but it is their rule, not mine.
* The logo with white is not one of the approved versions on the website: Logo Options. It looks horrible to boot.
* It doesn't have the oh so important, massively sized TM. That is a good thing, but doesn't seem to be one of the logo options from their guidelines.
It’s George Mason (TM)Make it make sense
