Name the next head coach (a GMUJim tribute album)

When did I imply to wait a long time to complete the process? This is the time to make contact with representatives of the coaches to determine if there is mutual interest. And, if this is done properly, fans really shouldn't know what's going on.

It's what my sources said....

It also stated in another tweet (and in Alan Kelly's article referencing said tweet) that George Mason has contacted more than 30+ candidates. Leads me to believe BBB cares and is contacting anyone who might be possible.

That's what we need to hear from BBB on Twitter....we dont need names...but PR like that goes a long way...

Doesn't matter about the PR. The fact there's a search firm and plenty of coaches being considered is good enough for me. I'm sure he will pick the very best one out of the bunch.

Speaking of PR, this search should held open to the public. Complete with BBB in an Octagon caged ring, disposing of Hewitt with a Ric Flair finishing move. Then followed by a live feed with audio and video of contact being made to candidates complete with BBB telln a few to go F themselves. Perhaps we could call on a few guys just to mess with them...like Sherm Dillard. Reality show anyone?

Or the new reality show "The Coach." A group of ADs try to woo the coaching candidate. Each week it is whittled down with the coach offering basketballs to the ADs he wants to work for till he finally decides....

Or "Gold Diggers"...behind the scenes look at the agents squeezing every dime out of AD's. Only to be slammed to the ground by the one and only BBB. Balls out!

This does not impress me:

"Baggett, the reigning MAAC coach of the year, is a former James Madison assistant and has a 54-44 record in three seasons at New Jersey-based Rider, including CBI and CIT appearances."

Tony Shaver, who many here think highly of, has an 82-132 CAA record and one post-season appearance - this year in the NIT.

Larranaga had just a 59% conference record and 3 NIT appearances at Bowling Green in 11 seasons. He finished 5th or lower in 6 of those seasons and .500 or lower in 5 of them.

Hewitt by contrast made 5 NCAA appearances and one NIT quarterfinals in 11 seasons at Ga Tech.

Sometimes you have to look past the records and consider what the program is capable of.

http://zagsblog.com/articles/as-for...ll-considering-visiting-villanova-providence/:

"NEW YORK — As Fordham conducts its coaching search via the Parker Executive Search firm in Atlanta, star freshman guard Eric Paschall is considering taking visits to Villanova and Providence, his father told SNY.tv Tuesday."

"Meantime, Parker is holding interviews this week with candidates in Atlanta. Among those expected to interview are Albany head coach Will Brown and Rider head coach Kevin Baggett, sources told SNY.tv.

Steve Pikiell of Stony Brook and Rob Jones of Norfolk State have also been linked to the job, per sources, but it’s not immediately clear if they will interview.

Parker is also handling the George Mason coaching search, and some candidates will interview for both positions in Atlanta."

I really wish we weren't using Parker now. "So...you don't think Fordham is the right fit for you...what do you think of Fairfax..."

"....I'm sorry...we've already filled the job opening in New York, perhaps you'd like to see something in the DC area..."

ugh.

And paying the $100k fee to use them.

And yet we all talk as if Brad Edwards is out combing the country for coaches. He's not.

He's waiting to get a phone call from the head hunters to tell him who he likes. All the while they are also repping a conference foe...and interviewing the same people.

If there's any truth to how I am hearing this process is working with Parker, ie Fordham and other similar schools they are repping....then I am pissed.

Parker "finds" Edwards for Mason, then Edwards turns around a gives a "kickback" back to Parker to hire them to find his basketball coach. Its a GD scam if you ask me.

I would take myself and any 4 of you off this board and could have come up with about the same list as Parker. BS BS BS.

As much as I agree with the two previous posts, I still prefer going this route to having the AD act as a one-man search committee and interview one coach before making a hire. We all know how well that worked out.

Not one Mason fan will blame Parker if the next coach tanks. We'll blame Edwards, so Edwards will be the one making the recommendation and Cabrera will either sign off or not.

All Parker does is the initial groundwork with candidates. If Edwards doesn't like anyone on the list, he can pick somebody else.

I don't know Edwards personally, but he doesn't strike me as the type of guy who's going to harm his own career by being bullied into a bad decision.

Here are the finalist for the Hugh Durham COY Award (Mid Major COY): Tommy Amaker (Harvard), Will Brown (Albany), Bobby Collins (Maryland-Eastern Shore), Keno Davis (Central Michigan), Bryce Drew (Valparaiso), Jim Engles (NJIT), Bill Herrion (New Hampshire), Bobby Hurley (Buffalo), James Jones (Yale), Brian Katz (Sacramento State), LeVelle Moton (North Carolina Central), Steve Prohm (Murray State) and Heath Schroyer (Tennessee-Martin).

Pretty good list. Except for Schroyer and Herrion.
