They almost broke 2,000 people last night. Hurricane fever is running wild.

It really is sad how little support they get down there, but it probably also explains why Coach L doesn't get heat for not getting to the NCAAT more. The expectations are low and the apathy is high, so just running a clean program and getting to the NIT is enough to appease the football-driven administration and limited fan base.

Miami doesn't seem like a great sports town anyway. Baseball and football probably come before basketball at the U.

Putting the Marlins ahead of U of Miami basketball really says a lot, too.

You have to think about where Miami is located (Coral Gables), which would be like moving Georgetown to Great Falls, Virginia.

They probably would get a lot more support from the West Gables community (the poorer side, the minority side) if they actually reached out to them and weren't such a fru fru elitist school (again, would be like putting UVA in Anacostia).

edit: And to add to that, if you did live in Miami proper and wanted to go to a game on a weeknight, imagine trying to get to George Mason where the only way to get there is a two lane Highway 1.

OH L DOES REAL WELL IN RICHMOND!!!

CANT WAIT TO LAY SOME FAT CASH ON THE SPIDERS!!!

As I have foreseen, it will be an A-10 team that eliminates the Hurricanes. Oh, I'm afraid the shield deflector will be quite operational when your friends arrive...

I actually think the Hewitt years were a net positive on the program. If Larranaga had stayed, we'd have given the diva his seventh raise in ten years by now, and the program would be flat broke.

Everything would be more expensive on the concourse, if you can imagine that. Seat prices? Double.

While Hewitt blew green gooey chunks - the alternative was not to keep Coach L. I loved what I did for the program - but as I said repeatedly four years ago - he hit a brick wall and we were not getting better and in some ways regressed.

The hewitt years - while crappy - ripped our Coach L addiction - blinded by emotion - and put us in to the position to move up to the next level with a new coach.
