I hate the pessimism I am feeling about Cardinals-49ers game today .
Get it done AZ!
Get it done AZ!
I hate that I didn't know where else to put this. I hate that I felt compelled to visit the vcu board, where I saw it in the first place:
Let's do a quick comparison between the two Virginia schools from the A10 that have both been to the Final Four in the last 10 years, listing how each school has capitalized on their Final Four run.
vcu
- Retained Shaka Smart
- Joined the A10
- Nationally Ranked Program
- Advanced to the NCAA Tournament Each and Every Year Since the Final Four Appearance
- Nationally Ranked Recruiting Class
- Expanded the Stu with the Tommy J. West Club Level
- 50 Consecutive Home Sellouts
- New State of the Art Center Court Scoreboard and LED Ribbon in Front of Tommy J. West Club Level
- Broke Ground on a $25 Million Basketball Practice Facility
- 2014-15 A10 Coaches Pre-Season Ranking - 1st out of 14
George Mason
OUCH!
- Lost Jim Larranaga to Miami
- Hired Paul Hewitt
- Only 2 NCAA Appearances Since 2006 Final Four Appearance
- Joined the A10
- Minimal Upgrades, if any, to the Patriot Center
- Declining Home Attendance
- 2014-15 A10 Coaches Pre-Season Ranking - 13th out of 14
I REALLY hate that I can't argue with anything in that post.
I hate that we spent as much money "upgrading the Patriot Center" as vcu is spending on their practice facility and "we haven't done anything to upgrade the building"
I hate that we spent that much money and it didn't make much of a noticeable difference in the building.
I also hate that that was the only point you were able to rebut.
I hate that they made a comparison between retaining Shaka and losing Larranaga in the first place: Larranaga's seasons post-final four (2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011) Shaka Smart's seasons post-final four (2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014...) be wary of making that comparison vcu fans...
I hate that George Mason has also been nationally ranked post-final four and it wasn't mentioned (granted Mason never got the ridiculous man-love that vcu gets, but that's beside the point).
I hate that Mason really never had that great of fan support and that the casual fans we did seem to gain post-final four abandoned ship so quickly.
But I mostly hate, hate, hate that it has been vcu standing in our way almost every single freaking year from taking our program to the dance and that neither Larranaga nor Hewitt could figure out a way to freaking beat them in the Coliseum just once, just one freaking time (2011, Coach L, would have been the time to do it (just once, just one freaking time between 2002-2012, just so we don't have to hear about how freaking amazing vcu is every single day on our board).
