GIVING DAY 2023
My only hope after today is that they say "This is how much giving day gave, this is where we are now at, this is what we still need" in a nice graphic somewhere especially for this project.

Nice signature line.....

Link? I don't see this on the site.

In typical Mason fashion it appears they only put it on the side of this one article, as opposed to either every article or the first page you go to when you click "progress". If you click progress you just get a video with no specifics.

Whoever designs these things for Mason rides the short CUE bus to work. The facilities/campus planning site just got a facelift but somehow isn't really better and also wasn't updated with new information. Which means someone was actively thinking about the website, but only the look of it and not the content. I'd understand more if it had just been forgotten about all together.

Based on the current number for the practice facility ($8,600), I wonder if the corporate partnerships staff has looked into a donation matching promotion that could tie in a sponsor for future giving days. A company could agree to match the donated amount, and have a great story to tell both to Mason fans and the community. Something along the lines of "Together We Build".

Brian is back!!!
I appreciate the thought, but I can't take the credit for someone else's generosity. It wasn't me.

Glad to see the practice facility is doing well, though, relative to other programs.

Brad,

If you're reading this, why not call it the Jay and Carolyn Marsh Basketball Center? Not just for their generous pledge, but for all they've done for Mason Athletics.

Giving Day shout out to Mason's own Jay and Carolyn Marsh for their $5,000 pledge towards the Basketball Practice Facility. #Give2Mason

GMU is so poor a $5,000 donation gets you the name for the practice facility? SMH. Name the basketball offices or field house or something (if you really want to), but not the something we need high donor dollars to get funded.

5k is a very generous gift, but it doesn't warrant naming rights. And I think we need to remember the purpose of the facility. Mason doesn't need the facility to perform better on the court, the practice facility is used to lure recruits to Mason. A 17 year old is not impressed with an old-farts name on the side of the building.

Go after a big corporate sponsor. I would imagine Chic-Fila practice facility would spark a 17 year olds interest more then Jay Marsh.

How many college practice facilities having corporate naming rights deals? I know Rutgers has recently partnered with RWJBarnabas (hospital system in NJ) on a new practice/sports performance facility, but that is also heavily tied to RWJ's involvement in their department.

Based on my experience in the field, I think it's much more realistic to bring in a high level private donation than a corporate sponsor.

Give the team the RAC. Basketball recruiting is an arms race. Even if we give them the RAC, there will still be better bigger practice facilities out there.

I know what your going to say; the program doesn't need it. Well the students don't need 5 gyms.

Aquatic center
Skyline
RAC
Freedom center- I know it's in PWC but still.
The edge obstacle course- if your lucky enough.
Numerous fields, tennis courts, volleyball courts, outdoor basketball.

JMU doesn't have this many options. I doubt many schools have this many options for students. Mason did just fine before the RAC they will do just fine without it. Give it to the basketball team.

Dude, enough. It's obviously not happening. No reason to keep debating this.
I think if there was support for a change like this, then the administration would consider it. I emailed Brad Edwards my idea. I hope some of you do to.
