I disagree. I find it well within the fight song "genre". Can you give me examples of better fight songs?
Honestly, off the top of my head, no I can't. Not too in-tune with other schools fight songs. But, I think if ours was any good, all students attending games would know it. Kinda defeats the purpose of a fight song if half the student section doesn't know it. And honestly, that could have more to do with overall program apathy than it does with the actual song itself.

It's printed upside down on shirts for students to read it at the games. It's embarrassing.

I know I'm in the minority but I actually go to the games to watch basketball. A rowdy crowd is all I need but don't get much of. Not looking for any other form of "entertainment".

Tailgates before the game would do wonders. Don't wait until the middle of the season with homecoming to get students to a game.

I think Homecoming should be opening night. Warmer weather, everyone is happy to be together and it will help build comradely.

I don't want to bring football into the mix, but the reason people want football is the comradely it provides, not the actual sport. If all we have is just the game, many are left not interested in attending.

Not sure honestly how much any of this can be fixed unless theres better lighting or a video scoreboard for those videos pregame like someone mentioned. The atmosphere has been like this for years, even when they were winning. The fight song is fine, it sounds like a fight song.

I for one agree that the intro of the team should be changed, a wind up machine with Zombie Nation has run its course. That said we're there for the basketball team and as long as the team wins, and as fans we can get into the game curse/scream/hiss thats all I want. If something like that is lame to you, dont pay attention to it or drink an extra beer in the Gold Room or at Brion's or check out information online about the other team. The other stuff is just extras that isn't going to make a break someone willing to attend.

Homecoming is probably not going to be changed although opening night would be interesting and the opponent doesn't really matter. I just don't think basketball is a tailgating friendly sport because of the weather, and most people would rather hang out at Brion's or the Gold Room and call it a day.

I think the PA announcer needs to tell the crowd to stand during introductions and other parts of the game. I posted this on a different thread, but I attended a Binghamton U basketball usually once a year. I know their PA announcer tells the crowd to get on their feet and I see my parents (not BU alums) and their friends on their feet. and lets just say the section my parents sit in all can obtain a AARP discount. So this is an apples-to-apples comparison to a lot of the EBA crowds.

regarding the roof, MSG went through a massive renovation and they managed to not lose out on too many events. EBA isn't as busy as MSG so the event calendar isn't the main reason why the roof hasn't been upgraded. its $$$.

I mean everyone is showing up for basketball, the problem is the game is only 40 mins and you spend more time at EBA not watching basketball than you do actually watching the game. It's the downtime or game day experience that needs a little tweaking. That's not to say Mason isn't doing enough, it's just that nothing has changed over the years. I could see if we had a tradition that echoed back 20 years of being fun for the fans and hyped up the players but we don't. We keep with these low energy traditions that no one cares about. But that's just me.

I agree, wish we had a better announcer. We need someone younger, hipper, and more energetic like Ralph Wesley from the Wizards.

If we could get something akin to that glowstick thing from Mason Madness going I would be more than content

Also as far as a renovation goes, I know it was mentioned that the Robins Center was toured as part of a "study" two years, but from what I heard the focus now is the practice facility and getting that going. No clue on what the future of EBA holds, but it would certainly be nice if someone could find out or if it was shared, for nothing more than "We aren't fixing the roof or adding anything more because we are working on a proposal for a new arena" or something.

I'm not a construction expert but I doubt the 10 days the circus was there is adequate time to fix that thing. They'd more than likely have to rope off at least two months, although with how slow the place can get in the summer I doubt they'd lose all that much revenue. They'd certainly make it back in improving the place and allowing for more elaborate acts to come.

I'm surprised the roof never got fixed though. It was in the capital request a few years back then randomly vanished. Not to mention at a certain point I'm fairly certain it legally has to be updated. I'm wondering if BE/Cabrerra are having second thoughts about putting that much money into an aging place. I know they toured the Robbins Center to see how a full renovation could work.
I feel like Circus was about 20 days (or at least it felt that way because of the stupid parking issues)

It's usually there for a little over a week but they do multiple shows a day which may be what makes it feel so long. This year it looks like it'll be there for a week.

Most fight songs are corny. Listen to the words for some..."On Wisconsin" for example or "Hail to the Victors" (Michigan). The Mason fight song sounds basically like all of the others; it just hasn't been around as long.

So, the current version of the fight song has only been around since 2009 (with most of it stemming from previous versions used over the last 25 years or so). I remember when all of the students tried to sing it during games, there was one line that threw everyone off and it just sounded all jumbled: "We'll prove our honor and might,"
