What circumstances? WTF is so hard to understand. It was done before with Coach L. He used his first year to clear the pipes and find players for his 2nd year. Why didn't Lil Dave do that? He certainly didn't inherit as bad a roster compared to Coach L's hiring. Lil Dave chose to cluster f*ck the roster with DII players and it was a huge mistake. Call it like it is Jim.

It took Frank Beamer 6 years to get the VT football program turned around and winning consistently. I think their fans are happy now that their administration was patient and didn’t fire a Hall of Famer.

I do consider circumstances but would also like to see improvements. What has this team improved on since the start of the season?

And I hope that Dave can turn it around but I just don't see it right now. We are a team built with no depth at the point or 4/5 but he is only recruiting 2 guards. I really hope I am wrong and will be the first to own up to it, but I don't see much improvement next year with the way he is building this team.

Many fans like you wanted him fired, even though he was an alumnus and had been a very good player for the Hokies.

Luckily for them, their president was patient. Beamer went 9-3 in year 7 and never looked back on his way to the Hall of Fame.

I think there’s a lesson in there somewhere...

Where did I say I wanted Paulsen fired. I said he needs to shoulder the blame for the product on the floor but never said he should be fired. I can accept us losing games if I see progress on the court. My biggest issue with Paulsen is that he is full of the same excuses after every blowout loss.

I think we should fire Dave and bring in someone else... and as soon as that guy loses a game, fire 'em! Just keep going through coaches until we finally find someone who refuses to lose!

Heck, even if we are down at half we might want to fire them and have some new blood the second half.

Progress doesn’t always happen in a linear manner when rebuilding a program. There will be fits and starts until the roster is stable enough to withstand the inevitable recruiting misses, transfers and injuries that happen to everyone.

Dave has made it clear he is building for the long haul. Those who can’t suck it up and be patient should feel free to find another team.

Another fact, Otis, Jaire, and Justin are all averaging over 30 minutes a game for the past three/two years. That is not exactly young and most coaches in the country would love to have a starting backcourt with that type of experience. While I am frustrated, I am not going to stop supporting my school. I am just not going to sit back and think everything is gravy, like you do.

Is their ZERO evidence of them going out with BS defensive strategies lately too? I could care less about how young we are or any of that nonsense.. I am however extremely frustrated with dumb game plans... Which is either Paulsen or his assistants fault. We can't inbound the ball and our defensive strategy and matchups are idiotic at best.

Having an 8-man rotation is Paulsen's fault. He recruited these players so he needs to take the blame for their lack of production. Am I ready to jump of the deep end, no. But you would expect to see some kind of improvement with the team and its just not there.

I don't know, Jim but I would love to hear Paulsen just admit that he didn't get his team ready to play or that he needs to do a better job of adjusting. Probably won't happen but it would be nice to hear him take responsibility for games like last night. I will admit that we have looked good in some games this year and we were just outmatched or shots just didn't fall. But it has happened far to often, last night included, where we just look completely lost and we allow teams to run their sets on us like they would in practice.

Yea ok. Dixon and Murrell we going to be 4 YR A10 players at Mason. And we are going to Final Four this year too.

Again, Lil Dave screwed up roster in his first 2 years and that is why we suck today. To make it worse, he takes no responsibility for any of it. Some of our delusional fans act like that did not happen. That's crazy.
