GIVING DAY 2023
I think we should fire Dave and bring in someone else... and as soon as that guy loses a game, fire 'em! Just keep going through coaches until we finally find someone who refuses to lose!

Heck, even if we are down at half we might want to fire them and have some new blood the second half.

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT LOSING AT MASON ANYMORE!

Can we at least have someone set themselves on fire after every loss? :cigar:

GIVING DAY 2023
I admit I didn't see most of game since my internet was pooping out most of the game. I'm going to state the obvious, but I felt the need to share.

As its been said in this thread, Mason is severely handicapped in so many ways that we keep beating on. They are so young (like the 15th youngest team in the nation), they dont have depth (we know why). Its ugly. I may be stating the obvious but this may not be the last time this happens this year. Teams that have the talent, depth and experience are going to maul over Mason. Dave has said they have enough to win, but it takes everything to go right.

I will say that it is extremely frustrating that we are now in February, and even the good teams of the league are rolling over Mason, but that is just the way the cookie is going to crumble this year. I'm hoping Mason can stay out of the play in game at this point.

You don't want to watch our annual PIG rivalry with Fordham?!?!

Mobley scored almost 20'over his average and 75% of that was when Otis was guarding him. The lefty who scores 5 pts a game scored 20 75% of that with Otis guarding him. Taqqee had 4 points and can't shoot. But our coach refused to put Otis on him strangely. That's what I'm talking about with horrible in game and pre game defensive strategy.

Pick your poison...shifting assignments probably would have meant Adams or Stockyard having a much better day (Adams scored 5 against us and averages 17 a game; Stockyard scored 5 against us and averages 11 per game = 18 points off their collective averages). I know Stockyard fouled out, but the point still stands.

A lot of Mobley and Kaputo's points came on transition 3s in the first half. If we protect the ball better and not have so many runouts, this game is much different going into the half. I think we had something like 3 or 4 TOs in a row that led to the big run and about 4 transition 3s from Mobley and Kaputo. No one was guarding either player in that scenario. Mobley didn't get going until about the 12:00 mark when he hit his first 3 and then GMU went into panic mode.

This team just generally has a problem of allowing things not going their way to snowball into a disaster. A missed assignment leads to a TO the other way, which leads to another missed assignment, which leads to a bad shot taken early in the shot clock, which leads to another runout, which leads to a turnover. And all of a sudden they are down 15.

Who else should take the responsibility?
Jeez, man, you ARE dense.

Super-fan GSII says Coach Dave won't take responsibility for the roster shortcomings. So, I wanted Petey and GK to ask Dave if he feels responsible or not. I know the answer. You know the answer. Petey knows the answer. GK knows the answer. But, somehow, GSII doesn't. He obviously needs clarification on the issue.

God, one has to explain everything to you. So, to answer your question, "No duh!! Of course Coach Dave is responsible."

I LOVE hindsight threads!!

Incidentally, we went on a 6-2 streak after this game w/wins over St. Joes, UMASS, Dayton, GW, and Richmond.

But Doom! DOOOOOOMED!!!! back in January after losing to the team that just beat UCLA by 7 in the First Four.

Best part of this is we lost and had the WORST defensive gameplan ever. imagine if we had some semblance of how to guard anyone? maybe we could have beat the team that just beat UCLA

Just a note to hit the point home even more:

The Bonnies beat UCLA with their two 1st team All A10 players, Mobley and Adams combining for only 22 points. For the season they averaged nearly 38 points/game.

So you could say, UCLA was lucky to only lose by 7. The Bonnies have fault tolerance.

Still as true today as the day I wrote it.

Well if we do go to the dance next year - the naysayers should be forced to have their wives and girlfriends participate in a large 4kHD bukake fest film - where real Mason Fans get to have their way. Additionally the naysayer and donkeys should be forced to witness live filming sitting in a chair lest than 10 feet away from the action without the benefit of smocks, eye or hair protection.
