Is it just a case of too much dribbling most of the time?
in my view on the press it's a case of lazy/sloppy passing. On the press he seems to cough it up on passes. On his dribble-iso thigs he coughts it up on the dribble.

Another thing I notice - with XJ and with Cooper - is that mid-depth cut to the top of the key (incidentally always going from right to left)- where they're looking for the option pass either to the wing or down low - they both do it too slowly and dribble too much and get their pocket picked from behind half the time by a helping defender because nobody's calling out the steal from behind.

I know we have to go through heartbreak and stomach ache during a rebuild—it's to be expected and is in the contract between team and fan—but Lord-have-monkeys these last three losses have been too much.

We'd be in good shape if we had another defender who was 80% as good on D as Ticket. His guy is almost always locked down and scoring below average. And not surprisingly as I recall none of these buzzer-beater shots have been against Ticket. Other teams know.

The fumble out of bounds was possibly the most mind-blowing thing I've seen in a while.
As bad as it was, I don"t think that particular play hurt us. I think Mason gotta stop after that turnover. May be wrong though.

Yeah but that was the moment I knew we were cooked.
Exactly. Mason had a chance to extend a narrow lead. Granted, it was one of many opportunities to put Richmond behind by two possessions, but "THE FUMBLE" was emblematic foreshadowing of what was to come in the last few possessions.

Is there a post-game presser? I'd be interested in his take on the game.

I think we're starting to get a good bead on what English is looking for. I'd posit a guess to some of it:

1) too many turnovers (need to keep it under 10, need to be stronger with the ball).
2) Let Gilyard get off too many shots (an unacceptable amount of open 3s -- need to do a better job of fighting through screens, pressuring the ball, and closing out with the high hand).
3) won the rebound battle, good; but need to do better with second chance points (will editorialize here and say that Henry had 4 offensive rebounds, but only 4 points, none of which came on a putback).

Yeahhh.....

Look, it's nothing personal Brian, but, umm, some of the other posters and I, well, we were kinda wondering if you, umm, might be willing to reconsider.........going to games?

I mean look, we think you're great. Really, we mean that. Just a great fan and all around solid fella. Nothing like that Jollay guy. What a doosh, amirite?? But the thing is, uh, you're kinda bad luck. You're kinda like our William H. Macy character in The Cooler.

But hey, it's not all bad news. The fellas and I have passed around the digital hat and collected enough bitcoins that we'd like to spring for an ESPN+ subscription for you on us. Huh? Huh??? Pretty good stuff right????

So whatayah say buddy. Maybe spend the rest of the season at home in the luxury of your own living room watching the game while kicking your feet up?

"This was another great basketball game from a fan perspective, but disappointing for us not to be able to close this game out," head coach Kim English said. "Obviously we were short-handed, but it's never an excuse in our program. We come into every game with what we have expecting to win and this is another night we should've won. But we didn't and it comes down to making plays. We missed some shots we usually make and we need to make. On their end, they made big plays and got some big rebounds."

Nah nah - this loss is on me. GMU wins 1st half with my thermostat at 67. Just because I was a little chilly, I put it at 70 for the 2nd half. Sorry - I was only too happy to let people blame turnovers last night.

I trust the coach, and the basketball minds here, but when we're saying the problem is "They made plays. We gotta make plays"... I dunno, man. That's not the problem I've seen, at all. Maybe that's polite code for "our point guard needs to do better." That would make more sense. I don't want to pile on the kid who's giving us everything he's got. But all I see is one position (not just one player... other people spell him) killing us. Period. We can shoot. We can defend. We're active. We're tough. We rebound. Oduro is a top 3 pick for POY. Although we need a better bench, our starters have competed in every A10 game, against most of the best teams in the conference. We're experienced, we're disciplined. We are very, very good at 4 positions. We are not even CAA level at the most important position. That's it.

I used to be at every game live and now that I've moved away I watch every game on TV. Sometimes I scratch my head at the comments from coach and fans. I was pissed off at the team the entire LaSalle game, including the comeback. I never believed we would close it out. I believe it's because you're there, and I'm not. I am not benefitting from the energy and excitement surrounding the team, and that electricity of witnessing a close game live. I just see error after error. I look at the box score and am actually surprised there weren't MORE turnovers.

I sometimes feel like what I'm seeing on TV is different than what you see live and I don't know which perspective is right. Probably something in the middle. But I'm definitely jealous of those of you that get the in-person perspective.

That, and the free throws... which can be attributed to lack of depth because our starters are f**king exhausted.

We’ve endlessly discussed our shortcomings at PG, but XJ has had 2 straight double-doubles and, despite the 6 turnovers, he was not the problem in either of the last 2 losses.

LaSalle was a case of terrible defense. Richmond was for the most part dreadful offense.

We missed at least 10 shots around the rim last night, including the completely uncontested bunny that Ticket bricked before Gilyard’s last 3. Convert even half of those and we win easily.
