It's easy to complain about the close losses but this team was on a one way street to unwatchable before CKE came in, and now we are at least competing every game and it's fun! I was screaming at the refs and pumping my fist after 3s out here on my couch. Last year I'd have the game on passively, if I happened to be home, while I did chores and stuff. These games are an event for me again and I clear my schedule to watch. If I still lived in NOVA I'd be at all of them, whereas with DP I'd routinely skip games if I had something better to do or didn't feel like sitting in traffic.

We have literally had opportunities to win every single game this season (with the exception of Nevada and, ugh, fine, Kansas) and that's more than I've been able to get the past few seasons.

I'm sure I'll come down from this copium high before tomorrow...'til then...

Where in the world did "XJ is a great finisher at the rim" come from? He misses bunnies and gets his shit swatted all the time. It looks like he *could* become good at it if he learns to use his size to create space, but calling him the best since Marquise Moore is just a bananas statement.

He airballs as many layups as he makes. It’s just a wild statement

Yeahhh.....

Look, it's nothing personal Brian, but, umm, some of the other posters and I, well, we were kinda wondering if you, umm, might be willing to reconsider.........going to games?

I mean look, we think you're great. Really, we mean that. Just a great fan and all around solid fella. Nothing like that Jollay guy. What a doosh, amirite?? But the thing is, uh, you're kinda bad luck. You're kinda like our William H. Macy character in The Cooler.

But hey, it's not all bad news. The fellas and I have passed around the digital hat and collected enough bitcoins that we'd like to spring for an ESPN+ subscription for you on us. Huh? Huh??? Pretty good stuff right????

So whatayah say buddy. Maybe spend the rest of the season at home in the luxury of your own living room watching the game while kicking your feet up?
Ouch!

I hear you, and, to be honest I am getting a little worn out with all this traveling. But, GmuBrianJr and I are having a great time doing it. In our defense, we have been at every game so, we should get as much credit for the wins as the losses, including our underdog wins against Maryland, Georgia and Dayton. I'll also point out that I was not there for the back half of Hewitt and the entire Paulsen reigns, so maybe it isn't me after all...

We set out at the beginning of the season with the goal to go to every game (a long time bucket list item for me that I came close to a couple times in the CAA/OCM days). We have had to deal with games arranged at the last second, a last second game canceled mid-flight, a compressed schedule to make up canceled games with 3 games a week, two major snow storms, one that was classified as an actual blizzard that almost completely shutdown a town in MA for a whole day (not to mention myriad unprecedented issues impacting my family right now trying to get in the way of this project).

We are so close at this point, we have to try to finish it out, so the rest of you will have to tolerate our presence at the games. Sorry (but not sorry)!

"George Mason coach Kim English exited the Robins Center interview room Monday night as the University of Richmond’s Jacob Gilyard entered. English laughed as he reminded Gilyard, who hit a 3 with .9 of a second left to beat the Patriots 62-59, of conversations they had several years ago.

Out of Kansas City, Mo., the 5-foot-9 Gilyard was being evaluated by Tulsa, where English was on staff.

'I was pretty dead-set on going to play for Kim at Tulsa,' said Gilyard. 'He called me when I was maybe a junior or senior (in high school) … He said it wasn’t probably best for me to go to Tulsa for my basketball career.

We talked a little bit later. I had my choices down to Richmond and Missouri State. He told me I should go to Richmond. Yeah, he told me to go to Richmond. It was his decision.

We talked about it. It was a pretty long phone call. And then after I committed, he was pretty happy. He thought it was best for me and, ultimately, I’ve done pretty well here I’d like to think.'”

Does anyone have links to the postgame pressers for the last two games?

It's stories like this that tell me we got the right guy, and we have to fight like hell to keep him as long as possible.

Glass is half full take: While it wasn't a stat filled night, I thought that Blake Jones had one of his better games last night. I thought he played pretty solid defense. There were at least two times where he just created a wall that prevented Golden from getting an easy bucket. He scored a 3, even if it wasn't that pretty. On the offensive side, I saw several times where he was wide open calling for the ball and it didn't get passed to him. He might have been able do more on offense if there was more synergy with him and the other guys. He didn't look scared to have the ball like it seemed in some of the more recent games.

I agree and don't for the life of me understand the beef with Blake. He played really good defense on Golden three possessions in a row... people only remember him getting stuffed badly at the rim...

Hey man, one out of every four times he drives he manages to not get stripped on the way to the basket, and then on one out of every three of those times he manages to hit the rim.

I think his injuries have hampered his development. He was a better finisher as a freshman.

Well if that's your answer then, fine. FINE! Let all future losses be on the heads of you and your heir, says I.

I didn't want to go this route, but you've forced me into taking drastic action and forge a deal w/the Devil himself to get our season back on track. I'm going to have to summon PiKap back to this forum.
