For a stats person, when was the last time (other than the 10-11 season) that we had an 8 game winning streak?
1) What the hell did Abram do?
- He's healthy, I assume he's not suspended because he dresses for games, wtf happened?
I never said I wasn't? Saw the tweet and liked the tweet.. One doesn't have anything to do with the other..Why not just appreciate his efforts on the scout team as his coaches and teammates do?
- Dave Paulsen @PaulsenDave Dec 10
- Huge shoutout to Myles, Kam, DeAndre, Danny, AJ for their work running opponents offense/defense. Essential to success, epitome of teamwork
Sounds like he's just being outplayed by the likes of Kier, Newman and Boyd who have taken his minutes. Totally understand why he's not playing at the moment, as I wouldn't mess with what we've got going right now in terms of rotation. Two questions I am sure everyone still has: (Unless I live under a rock and one or both have been answered)

Not head-scratching to me that he lost playing time.. head-scratching that it was so sudden. Completely understand and appreciate the roster differences between this year and last year. I have zero issue with the rotation or that he's not playing, just curious as to what brought on the sudden fall from starter to 13th man on the bench.. That's all.Unlike last season, we have competition on the roster. You have to play well in practices/games to earn playing time. Kier, Boyd, Newman are valued higher to this staff, for reasons we are seeing in games during this streak, and that's basically it. Not sure why this is so head-scratching to some.

2) How serious is Temara's injury?
- Still in a boot, Jalen isn't going to stay out of foul trouble in every game...
If I had to guess, I'd say it's all about defense. Because Kier and Grayer aren't exactly efficient scorers, but have been playing pretty good defense on the other side of the floor.
I agree about defense being a focal point with Paulsen, but it was odd that even our walk-on got garbage time at the end of the Penn game over Abram. There has to be something else going on that we don't know about.
If I recall correctly from what Bill Rohland said on the radio, they are hoping to get Temara back for the Atlantic 10 opener against vcu, possibly the Prairie View game.
I suspect Abram was just recruited over and isn't outperforming the other guys in practice. He obviously hasn't even earned garbage minutes (I think he was about to check in at the end of the Penn game, but Tate and Murrell got in first if I recall correctly). He was probably playing in the beginning of the year until the freshmen adjusted enough on the floor, and since the team started winning it doesn't look like the rotation is going to change since it makes sense to stick with what works. Unfortunately minutes are going to be even harder to come by for him since Wilson and Mar are coming in next year.
Yes, sorry, this was more of my point to the question.. I didn't phrase it very well... Again, I don't have any issue with him not playing, I am just curious to know if there might have been any kind of outside contributing factor.I agree about defense being a focal point with Paulsen, but it was odd that even our walk-on got garbage time at the end of the Penn game over Abram. From what I have heard, there is a clear difference from last year to this year in his preparation and effort. This has been a question of mine from his first DNP and I have asked Paulsen and others about it. Last year, he was always in the gym after hours working and earned his playing time despite the lack of competition. This year, also judging from his social media, it doesn't appear that he has that same fire and I often notice him seemingly happy on the bench, cheering for his teammates and posting snaps of team celebrations post games. Sometimes a little fame, recognition and a social life directly effect a players efforts. By G has vouched for Abram this whole season but it appears it's about time for us to shut up on this topic. If he doesn't care, we can't care.
We can confirm - His mom is HEATED about his playing time.
I kinda forget about the whole helicopter parent thing once players enter college. Think we're looking at a transfer? Might not be the worst thing in the world. Balance the classes out a bit more. From what I have heard, there is a clear difference from last year to this year in his preparation and effort. 1,000 kids transfer each year in Division I and we are still talking about why a guy who Paulsen brought in to fill a roster in the 11th hour isn't playing? Take away those 20+ point outbursts he had against awful competition and he wasn't all that great. Some of you need to stop falling in love with every kid on this team that responds to your tweets.
