I think Grayer coming off the bench has more to do with closely monitoring his minutes due to his injury than it does with performance.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Greene is starting over Grayer because our coach thinks that is the best thing for the team.

We’ll find out if he is right in about 6 hours.

Nobody is questioning that. Nobody. Just curious as to his reasoning.

If we were a power 5 school, there would be 30+ articles written about why a senior returning starter is starting on the bench... of course here at Mason, we got nothing.

I was just being snarky. I guess I’m used to Mason not getting any media coverage and 99 percent of our questions going unanswered. It’s the down side of being in Fairfax instead of Richmond, Dayton or even Kingston, RI.

No worries. It's been a long offseason. I feel like we've been waiting for this season for three years now!

In Rohland interview DP said regarding Grayer.........."i think he's at full strength".....seconds before that he said "yea we are healthy"....

Just hazarding a guess, but Grayer and Boyd give us a lot of firepower in reserve if Otis and/or Kier are out of the game.

Maybe Dave is looking for more balance in the rotation and thinks Javon is better suited to be the No. 5 option with the starting unit, instead of an “instant offense” guy coming off the bench.

Considering how thin our roster was last season, it’s nice to be able to bring those guys in and not have the offense totally grind to a halt.

I think it must be about defense. Javon was our best defensive player at the end of last season. That said, I don't love the move because it puts Jaire and Ian coming off the bench together and I think their games are very similar. Both have enough muscle to play some small ball 4 but not quite enough quickness to stay in front of elite guards. They also both function best off the ball on offense. Even last year those two seldom shared the floor unless it was as a 3/4 and not a 2/3.

All that said, I trust the coach's judgment a lot more than my own.

I'm more concerned with their not being a score/time graphic on the ESPN+ feed than I am with the Grayer/Greene non-situation.
