Was your grandfather a member of the band on the Titanic?
Um, how about a spoiler alert for those of us who haven't seen the movie yet?

My bad, the sequel "Titanic Vs. Iceberg, this time it's personal" I heard is pretty good too.

I am rooting for it to happen because I like Turner and know he'd do a good job but it seems more likely a way to get another extension/raise until he nails a better job. Hope I'm wrong. He has another good team coming back so there isn't any major urgency for him.
Hewitt, the gift that keeps on giving... Before he destroyed us, we were a much more desirable destination. It sounds like a lot of coaches are using our job to get new deals of their own.
Doesn't seem like much to get another $50k-$100k per year. Many people fly distances like that for a days pay.If he flew from California to Virginia -- and I don't know for sure that he did -- that is an awful long way to go just to squeeze some extra bucks out of your current employer.

I have no idea if he has interest in our job. I hope he does. If your employer is not just offering a raise out of their own fear of losing you, you can't play the "I am going to walk if you don't give me a raise" game unless you have an offer in hand. To have an offer in hand, you have to go through the motions of showing interest. My point was, Turner wouldn't have to even get on a plane if his only interest is gaining leverage over his employer. Merely getting Mason to express interest in hiring him is all he would need to get a nice raise.
Our offer ultimately may not be good enough to land him, but I have to believe Turner visited campus because he's interested in the job.
