Looking at Turner's roster this year, I like two things:

He has two, yes two, 7 foot guys on it. A guy that can recruit 2 7 footers has to be able to recruit.
I also like that there are no 6' 7" or 6' 8" guys on the team. I think I will forever be scarred by those heights.

I agree, but key is making sure they're the "right" defections.

If we lose Mayimba or Gilbert, I'm gonna be pissed no matter who the coach is. Those kids are critical to us eventually having the athleticism and length on the wing to be a top-shelf A-10 team.

Would really like to keep: Marquis, Jackson
Would be nice for them to stay: Jalen, Porter

It can't be for academics. I've heard that he has done very well in the classroom at Mason and that is almost always the standard by which the NCAA judges partial qualifiers.

But not hearing anything out of the NCAA certainly raises eyebrows.

IMHO, 4 of those 5 go in the "Have to keep" category if we want any chance of finishing better than 13th place next season.

And I'd really like to keep Porter, too. I can't wait to see what he becomes with a competent coach and another 30 pounds on his frame.

No not academics....but supposedly he spent alot of time away from Mason.....so some people weren't sure where his interest was, esp with the fluid coaching situation.

Well, that's too bad if he's really gonna leave. Was hoping he'd eventually be a highlight-reel guy at Mason.
