GIVING DAY 2023
Somebody earlier said that the roster listed is based on academic credit and not eligibility.

Literally what I was going to post haha. To my understanding, Daddy is a RS frosh and soph academically (most likely).

That said, no idea what to expect out of him based on barely playing and limited offers, but if he provides some depth at the wing and some energy I'd be happy to see that.

I've heard mixed things about him, some good some not so good. So we'll see. If he isn't anything, I'm sure he will not see the court.

I also only want to see highlights in videos from practice from Oduro, Daddy, and Kolek so that @sleeperpick will lose his mind. (Yes we all know practice means nothing)

I mean it looked like he was going to get some decent minutes last year before he got hurt. We are definitely deeper this year (fingers crossed with injuries), but I would still expect to see a few minutes per game from Daddy.

I'd bet the farm that Dady received a medical red-shirt and the folks that update the roster just didn't make the change to reflect that. What, did he play in 1 game? I think he still has his 4 years of eligibility.

Perhaps you are correct. But, given that he's already 22-years old, is it possible he didn't apply for a medical hardship waiver to restore his freshman year of eligibility?

Very fair point. That would put him at 27 at graduation? Outside of a few extenuating circumstances (overseas players, guys coming from the military), not too many guys want to be finishing their college careers that late in the game.

Don't see why that changes anything. He could still decide to surrender his eligibility and graduate later. Get the redshirt now, decide later. No reason why he wouldn't want or be granted the redshirt. I think y'all are reading way too much into that designation on the roster.

Not reading anything into it. Maybe it is credits based, but if you look at the 2013-2014 roster Jalen Jenkins is listed as a redshirt freshman on the page: https://gomason.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/2013-14

And AJ is listed as one in 2017-2018: https://gomason.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/2017-18

You can also look at guys like Daniel Relvao, Jared Reuter, Anali Okoloji, Julian Royal, even Jack Tempchin who all get designated with redshirt status.

Could it be different if you receive a medical redshirt? I have no idea because our last 2 guys to go that route both left as grad transfers.

Yes, you are in fact reading into it. Pretty sure it is just a different person managing the roster on the website. Or a different philosophy. Are you going to make me go back and find the initial comment where someone said it was based on credits and not eligiblity?

One of the best A10 previews I’ve seen (honestly ever, the level of detail these guys went in is insane even if I don’t agree with their analysis on some of the stats).

Don’t agree with some of their all conference projections either, but that’s the name of the game.

Highly recommend following these guys and interacting with them on Twitter if you aren’t already.

You already know I’m trying to think of a witty way to tell them they are sleeping on AJ Wilson, but I’m not that smart so I’ll probably just tweet a middle finger gif at them.

I already told them to prepare for AJ to dunk his nuts in their faces LOL

I mean, they did refer to us as the Colonials. So let that finger fly brother.

Honestly, the best DP interview that I've heard in a long while. Maybe ever.
Honestly it was one of his better interviews, especially considering how short it was. While they did talk about injuries this time it didn't seem like he leaned on it as heavily as he had in the past as why last year ended up like it did.

Good ‘N Plenty pod with the coach of Preseason No. 15 team, Richmond’s Chris Mooney: - Advantage of having an older team this year. - How concerned was he that his seniors would be poached? - What was life on Hot Seat like? - How good is this group?
