A10 Season Preview

It should help that we have one of the few pretty much unguardable players in the A-10. If AJ consistently plays to the level he showed on several occasions last season, our other guys will get wide-open looks because he’ll have to be doubled to get the ball out of his hands.

That’s a good point, I think we are going to see a lot more AJ doubles this year, I hope they’ve been getting him prepared to pass out of it and have been coaching up Javon/Miller on where they need to be flashing when they see their man leave for the double. It was so frustrating when teams could double Shevon with impunity because we didn’t have anyone who could hit a 3 to punish them for it. Need to get some sets drawn up for when this happens and drill it into these guys heads so everyone knows what to do when it inevitably comes.

Nah I just know AJ is smart and unselfish and he realizes teams are gonna focus on stopping him.

All teams really have to do is move Oduro or Calixte out of the paint, attack our PG (XJ or Hartwell) with a screen, and its off to the races.

If we're going to improve defensively, Oduro has to become better at hedging and recovering, and XJ and Hartwell have to be better at fighting through screens and not losing their man.

It would also help if Greene brought it every game next year and not sometimes.

I know it's 2020 and zone defenses are out, but our hand may be forced if we don't land another solid big. Besides, the Raptors are bringing it back like mom jeans.

Jai Lewis was pretty good at passing out of a double team too. I enjoyed his passes to Lamar for an open 3 very much back in the day haha.

who will mason play out of conference? Will any team be ranked below 300 in RPI? Will mason win more than 6 conf games? Will Brad extend dave even if the team sucks and have us lose our minds?

Kolek looked pretty good on that little Twitter video they showed of practice -- little drive and feed to Cali for an easy bucket, losing Greene behind a screen with a little pump fake and scoring (he also got schooled by Miller, but that's OK). I mean, yeah, it's only :36 seconds, but he looks comfortable out there with the vets.

I will never understand why you guys take highlight videos so seriously. Hell the BBW juco kid with 0 offers other than ya looks like an absolute monster in highlight videos. JDS highlight videos had jim rubbing his nips and everyone else drooling. It’s a damn highlight video

It’s also practice and not a game, but nothing wrong with liking some of what you see, especially when it comes to basketball IQ stuff: using screens, pump fakes, knowing where your outlet pass is and not just barreling to the rim.
