Not sure why you say that his seat is getting warmer. Simpkins probably just got a title and money promotion. Dave isn't going anywhere as long as Brad is around.
That said I'm not sure about Maurice. I am hoping as a 2nd assistant he will fit well. I've heard hes really nice and probably will connect well with recruits/alumni etc. The downside is that his coaching was very questionable while at GW (although he may have not been ready).
I hope he can help continue to improve the recruiting and scout well since that will be a lot of what he does.
He’s a good recruiter and motivator who will connect with our guys. Also from Canada and played at Vermont, so he’s got name recognition in the Atlantic corridor we like to recruit. He was just in over his head at GW given the mess he inherited for his first HC position.
I just hope this guy is a bit more like Simpkins than Hutchins was. Lonergan coaching tree is finally in Fairfax!!! I am ENTHUSED
Those are two areas that I heard hes very good at. Recruiting and motivating. I have to think this is a good fit and probably the best Mason could do for this type of position.
I love this move on all fronts. Past time for Duane to get the promotion and Maurice Joseph might prove to be a game changer in recruiting the DMV.

now Paulsen just needs to design a proper offense that highlights AJ and Javon and a defense that doesn't make it too easy to get to the hoop because our safety blanket AJ needs to stay out of foul trouble all year for us to be in a good spot. Maybe MOJO had an inbounds play worth a damn up his sleeve as well??!? being hopeful.

Really like the hire of Maurice Joseph. In my opinion we were able to upgrade the coaching staff very quickly after Pete announced he was departing.
Also nice to see Coach Simpkins get a promotion. Time for this staff to capitalize in the recruiting game and get it where it should be. Let’s start competing and beating other A-10 schools for recruits.

Interestingly, Maurice Joseph was on the Michigan State team that Mason beat in the first round of the 2006 NCAAT. He played two minutes, committed two fouls and hit a 3-pointer. He transferred to Vermont after two seasons under Tom Izzo.

MoJo's contract with GW was 5 years - he coached 3 of those and 1 at FDU. Will GW still be paying him as he coaches for us next season?
