2004 - I believe you are correct, I was sitting front row in the student section. My recollection is that we hit a 3, fouled vcu, followed their FT's with a full court pass that I think went out of bounds off of us but we got the call. Jai from the corner on the baseline at the buzzer for the win went off the rim.

Edit - I'm amazed at how accurately I remembered that, considering I don't remember what I had for dinner last night. Just checked the game recap - skinn hit a tying 3 with 9 seconds left, Jesse Pellet-Rosa was fouled with 1.6 seconds left, missing the first and making the second FT, followed by Jai's miss to end it. Recap doesn't mention the out of bounds call, but I'm pretty sure that was how Jai was able to get the ball and a clean shot at the opposite end of the court in less than 2 seconds.

That shot goes in, could have changed the history of both schools dramatically (vcu had not been to NCAA's since 96, would have been our 3rd trip in 6 years).

That program is a killer of coaching careers. Whoever takes the job is a lock to be fired in 4-5 years tops.

Georgetowne has hit a real funk and has been surprisingly quiet in post season play the past several years. Given what his father did for the program - that must have been a tough trigger to pull.

Depending on who they get.. I just view this as more evidence that this is our time.

Georgetown is struggling so hopefully we can grab some more DC attention/support, vcu is due for an off year, we have some dynamic players coming in to add to the immense progress that has already been made, and the A10 tourney is in DC this coming year. The master plan is coming together beautifully.

Now let's go get a big man who can contribute right away.

Their lack of arena kills them. They were able to sustain that situation a bit because of success but now it's just negative momentum that can't be stopped. Operating costs vs. attendance must be draining them of money.

Large attendance and continued appearances in the dance? I'd say a while. I think most schools view the tourney as a crapshoot once it starts. Hard to see them pulling the trigger.
