GIVING DAY 2023
Kier was probably diagnosed a couple days ago maybe even a week ago.

Unless this is really breaking news and a reporter rushed to get the story out.

4 weeks from today is November 4th, and the first game is the 5th.

I could see Kier playing game 1.

To all the internet fan doctors on here, how bad is a stress fracture? Sounds like it could linger on him all season like Grayer's foot injury, no?

Yes thank you I spent nine years in college at George Mason playing intramurals and dealt with all sorts of injuries and painkillers so I consider myself almost equal to a licensed physician.

I guess you not see him to at least JMU and depending on how we're doing they may hold him out longer.

Impossible. DrJ3 says bones are resilient. He’ll probably be back and ready to practice tomorrow.

WHEW!!! That's a relief.

Silly me I Googled it and found this on the Am Academy of Ortho Surgeons website and started to get concerned.

In most cases, it takes from 6 to 8 weeks for a stress fracture to heal. More serious stress fractures can take longer. Although it can be hard to be sidelined with an injury, returning to activity too soon can put you at risk for larger, harder-to-heal stress fractures and an even longer down time. Reinjury could lead to chronic problems and the stress fracture might never heal properly.

But glad to know we've a real interwebs MD expert on the case.

Thanks Dr.J3!!

I've dealt with stress fractures in one of my feet. It's painful. It feels worse and worse -- then suddenly gets better. At least that's my experience.

Driving to Fairfax for this game. I'll order this - the return of Kier plus a 4-0 record. Thanks to coaches and players in advance.

So Kier our 4-6 weeks and Boyd out for the season...that will certainly change things.

If Boyd redshirts, what happens to his scholarship? Didn’t we give it away already?

As I understand it, redshirts keep their scholarships unless they leave school. (e.g. Grayer)

Yes, but we have 3 players coming in next year is the point -- Polite, Kolek, and Henry. I mean, maybe there won't be an issue, because AJ might grad transfer out (so might Boyd, for that matter). But we might be in a situation where we have to tell one of our incoming players we don't have a scholarship for them.

Barring injury, AJ is gonna start the opener at the 4. He has been absolutely killing it in practice. Looks like a completely different guy.

My predicted starting 5 (until Kier returns): Hartwell, Greene, Miller, AJ and Calixte
