I could be biased AF, but Rutgers is now doing everything it can to compete in the Big Ten in both football and basketball. They hired the right football coach, added infrastructure and given Schiano whatever he wants. In addition, theyve added a lot for basketball (brand new facility that is fantastic) and have a great coach in Pikiell.

Pikiell is a lot like Paulsen in that hes defense minded and taken programs in the dumps and turned them around. The big difference is that Pikiell was on the verge of the NCAAs this year. He has been a little more aggressive with taking in transfers/grad transfers and successful with it.

If anything Rutgers is improving just about everywhere to meet and exceed everyone else in the Big Ten. They have really upped their game in the last 18 months IMO. It also matters they have the private money that alumni can throw at sports and are willing to throw at sports but thats besides the point.

Success for Rutgers Football will be 6 and 6 and a trip to the Yankee stadium bowl freezing their asses off in December. They don't have the money to catch up to Michigan or Ohio State.

They may not have the money, but they have done a lot to put their programs on the same/similiar footing and attempt to compete.

Lolololololol it came down to Schiano and Butch Jones. Rutgers plays in arguably the toughest division in cfb (it’s either the Big Ten East or the SEC West) a successful season for them will be having competitive games with Maryland and Indiana, and hoping to eek out an upset over Michigan State.

Penn st and Ohio st dominate the entire recruiting area Rutgers has. Good luck to Schiano but they won’t be competitive for a long time if ever

Guys- I didn’t say they would be better than everyone else, I just expressed an opinion where I said they made moves to stick and compete in the big ten. What that means is tbd, time will tell. In my opinion they have the right coach and have done many correct steps.

who knew liberty had a decent basketball program.
Obviously private school. But their basketball facilities are really impressive.

Ive been to the arena, it seemed a little smaller than that video made it seem but it is still an amazing venue to watch basketball.

With facilities like that why don’t they out recruit us?!? /s

They have so much money coming in from their online programs. I may be wrong, but I think they have some sort of stipulation that they have to invest a certain percentage of the money they bring in from the online program into their campus.

If Mason moved more in that direction (other than just during the pandemic), it might help fund some facilities.

Youre right, the University definitely uses Online education as a way to fund their vision of athletic excellence.
Liberty has made a conscience decision to pursue athletic excellence.
In 1975 (before online school)- the president stated " its our vision to have our athletics comparable to USC, Notre Damn, to Alabama to anybody"

God bless them...

lol literally anyone can say that. It’s been half a century and they’re 1/10th the way there at best.

Also, I would way rather have my success come on the back of sleezy shit that people like Pitino do than the way Falwell runs that school and funds their massive athletic capital expenditures.

That entire institution stinks.

Yes that includes hiring a slimeball coach that directly contradicts the whole university's mission. I will not be cheering for them anytime soon.
