I'm in the $750 level in 101 and it's half full on a good day. There have to be seats available assuming it's not all people who buy but don't show up. Being belligerent will get you some nasty looks but I'm close enough that the refs can hear me so I feel obligated. I've never had problems with the shushing/sit down nonsense others are talking about.
Makes me crazy. Ticket office dude insists the tickets he offered are the ONLY set of four together in the $750 range. They won't entertain tracking us to move if someone somewhere better doesn't renew. A new group gets the seats -- doesn't matter we're unhappy.

Season ticket holders that never show need some sort of kick in the a**.. not sure what that could look like. Write the check and leave your seats empty -- it's crap for the team.

As a recently graduated Mason student I know how important the cage gym is as a space for club sports, intramural sports, and simply pick-up hoops. Making it exclusively for varsity sports would be a terrible waste. I have a strong feeling that misallocation of the cage gym is not what is keeping us from another final four run.

So by not allocating the cage gym to students and allocating it to basketball players, and utilizing private money to help basketball players, thats preventing Mason from making another final four run?

Wait what

I really think there should be a "family" section (preferably under the tarps) where those that just want to "socialize" can sit. That would allow fans that actually want to get out of their seats to cheer/boo to do so without having to deal with the no fun police. To me basketball isn't entertainment, it's a competition. Want quiet and polite? Go to the damn opera, a concert, or a movie.

I know a great place where families can go socialize during games, rather than having to cheer. It's called Brions Grille.

Brad Edwards,

If you're reading this, how difficult is it to accommodate current season tickets who want to move to better seats? I assume that you have an intern in your department who is capable of performing this task.

Also, in the past, Mason season tickets holders with excellent attendance records were rewarded with benefits such as tickets to the Center for the Arts. Why not provide similar inducements in the future?

Pablo- why not send an email and see what Brad says? You always have good ideas and he's very responsive via email. Then you can share the response with us. :)

It is just weird because the ticket person I spoke with last year kept trying to upsell our group of 4 to the $750 tix. Some had to be available.. and that was within our section 115

Pablo, I think (based on prior communications) that season ticket holders get a chance via an open house to change their seats yearly.

As Mkaufman1 said, e-mail (or snail mail) Brad Edwards directly. I am sure he would respond to you. He talked to random people in the gold room all the time.

Don't they do an open house each year where you can see what seats are available? That's how we chose our new seats a few years ago.

Also agree these message board bat signals to Brad are a weird way of communicating. Just write him or others if you want an answer to something.

Washingtonian,

I attempted to upgrade my seats via an open house and through telephone calls to no avail. I will not try any further.

And, other than Andy Ruge, I no longer communicate directly with the AD and have no desire to do so.

My experience was through the offer to sit in upgraded seats at one of the last couple of games. When we expressed the desire for the seats we were sitting in, it turned
out those were not available but less desirable ones were the only ones that were. (Whose seats were we in?!)

103 - 102 - they're in enemy territory and we want out of there. Never any Chick-fil-A, never any movie tickets, never any T-shirts -- sucks for some dumb reasons -- but the worst is when vcu comes and we're surrounded by assholes.

If there's an open house maybe we'll go to that and see what happens.

I understand that 103 usually has the fans of the visiting team, but the people near me both in front of and behind me in 102 are all Mason regulars. At least those closer to the 101 side of the section.

I think they gave out unsold tickets. For the seat locations they were giving away, it's $750 donation per seat a season. I can see some donors getting pissed off that they paid $70+ when someone else just paid $25.

What Mason needs to do is either A) consolidate the Season Ticket Holders and push everyone down without charging extra on donations, or B) open up the lower lever unsold seats and sell them for maybe $35 or $40. What bothers me is Mason won't sell lower level seats. If you ever looked at Ticketmaster for single games, the only seats available are rafters.

The reason the environment sucks is because mason has always catered to the season ticket holders instead of the students.

I understand their is rational in catering to people with the money. But carter to the students will pay off in the long run.

I'm not the one complaing someone is sitting in my empty seat.
neither am I, as some of my friends move down to sit with the rest of the group when our neighbors don't attend... but if I pay $750 I expect not to have to kick people out of my seat each game

My family has been associated with Mason since 1978 and I can't remember ever setting foot in the Cage Gym. I played intramural hoops for our fraternity in the Field House and would go there for a run every now and then. If you had asked me if Varsity Basketball should have the space, I would have gladly agreed, hell, I didn't even know it existed.

That open house has been mostly worthless in the past because it does not take into account non renewals (people who had season tickets the previous season but haven't renewed yet), so very little in the terms of upgrades are really available at that time. The last time I went, there were no seats available in the section I wanted to be in (even though they are empty every game...). The rest is well documented history.

They have?

Look at the giveaways, students get a shot at 200 bucks nearly every game, and other things.

Someone in the nosebleeds gets a hook up to sit courtside at the 16 minute media timeout.

T-shirts are a crap shoot.
