A, renovating is always more expensive than new construction. B, they are splitting those funds between basketball facility and renovations to the arena. C, we spent $25 million on a box office, an expanded concourse and renovated bathrooms. A new roof for us is estimated to be between $8 and $10 million (that would be about $35 million right there). So I don't know how far it would go.

One thing I will say, I do hope our AD releases our strategic vision for EBA soon (do they plan on renovating or building a new facility?).
I mean Richmond did some major work to the Robins Center for $17 million so $40 million could go far. I guess it's just a large variance on a case by case basis. But yeah, I'd really like to hear Edwards thoughts on a new place. Can a building like that receive state funds? Seems like it should be able to considering the state profits off ticket sales.

GIVING DAY 2023
Looks like someone leaked that they were working on things to the Press, and then the AD got word of it and they wanted to say they weren't quite done yet.

"As a mason alumnus, I have to say that the blatant favoritism shown toward the basketball program is absolutely shameful. This id a colossal waste of money that favors such a small portion of the student population as to be absurd. This university is capable of better. If this decision goes through I see no reason to donate to a university that cannot manage its funds appropriately. You are a place of higher learning, not higher tuition costs"

This Snowflake needs to read the following: http://eagle.gmu.edu/newsroom/670/
Mason's NCAA appearances have provided over $677M worth of media coverage for the school. Call me when the badminton team does the same.

Why do you keep giving these people a voice on here, Pablo?

No need to insult him. What is important is to say that since the Final Four appearance has raised the profile of the university, we have spent over $1 billion on the academic side of the university (which includes the RAC expansion and all of the other amenities current university students enjoy that past students didn't have). And maybe we can sacrifice one gym so the basketball team doesn't have to schedule around performances at EBA and intramural volleyball games to practice.

Just plain embarrassing to know such a short-sighted f*cking idiot is an alumnus of our university.

People like Alex Patterson diminish the value of our degrees.

These people make me angry, but they probably are the same ones who complained about the name "Eaglebank arena"

They also will be first on the bandwagon. :bricks:

I see no problem with hearing what the opposition has to say. Please keep posting.
Yeah but it's not people who have a different opinion, it's spoiled kids who don't know the facts. Like that part of the renovation is to replace space lost by giving the cage to the team, or that their "tuition" doesn't go towards their usuage of the gyms, or that the school is using 100% donor money for the project.

I had to throw students out of my seats twice this season. Yet I'm the one whose ticket the ushers wanted to see.

Some old geezer in 115 was rigorous with checking tickets, even mine. I used to just walk right past him regardless. If you don't know faces after like the 8th time come on...

There was a time where people tried to "steal" my seats when they had VIP seats with the same section, row and seat numbers. Uhhhh....clearly, you aren't the real paying customers, yet your friend didn't give you direction in terms of how to get to floor seats?
