Walker is 6-9, but you’re right that he is a 4 and we do need somebody else at that spot.If Walker comes here, he's a four, where we need another player (that and a two is where I'd like to see two of our three remaining schollys go) At 6'7" he's not playing minutes at the 5 in the A-10
Yea I totally meant Foster here, big ole brain fart.Walker is 6-9, but you’re right that he is a 4 and we do need somebody else at that spot.
I think the goal is for Toledo to be as good as possible when we beat them.Toledo G RayJ Dennis has entered the portal. Averaged 19.5 pts, 5.8 ast, and 4.3 reb last year. Will have lots of P5 offers. Good for us come Dec when we play at Toledo.
Polite 6-2
Billups 6-4
Maddox 6-5
Hall 6-8
Newton 6-9
Henry 6-8
Kelly 6-9
Pavrette 6-11
That is a long, athletic and versatile 8-man rotation. 2 more spots left to fill, or 3 depending on Peter Oduro’s status.
Holy bleep.
Two reactions from OK ST fans:Polite 6-2

A lot of mouths to feed, but I like the way the roster is shaping up. Competition in the frontcourt, and some proven guys in the backcourt.Polite 6-2

I'm hoping we can still add a shooter, like Zarzuela. That might put this roster on another level.

Here’s the thing, Maddox’s calling card is his shooting. Hall can really shoot it and Newton was a 40% 3-point shooter at Syracuse before transferring to Okie State. And that doesn’t even include Polite’s improvement last season.A lot of mouths to feed, but I like the way the roster is shaping up. I like what they bring so this is not to knock them, but I don't think they've all proven they can shoot it at this level yet. Maddox yes. Let's hope Polite keeps up his shooting from last year. We’re gonna put plenty of shooting on the floor, it’s just that these guys can do lots of other stuff too.
Completely agree, and it’s not a knock on those guys whatsoever, just shouldn’t build them up to be something their numbers don’t say they are. Not to say they can’t improve, or won’t do better with more volume, but there’s nothing that suggests that outside of Hall and Maddox that any of our incoming transfers are huge outside threats.I like what they bring so this is not to knock them, but I don't think they've all proven they can shoot it at this level yet. Hall has made 10 career 3s, albeit at an impressive 50% clip. Shot 68% from the foul line.
Newton made 7 3s at Syracuse. 33 total threes made on about 30% shooting. Career 59% from the foul line. He also banked a few in on his highlight tape.
Billups has 20 3s on about 25% shooting. Better (~73%) from the line.
I've only seen these guys highlights, but I'm hesitant to declare them shooters. Reminds me of when people thought Saquan would be a good shooter because he hit 36% of his threes two season ago.
We better hope that if any of our team is fouled, it better be Polite or Maddux. Cooper and Bailey were around 80% as well and unfortunately most of the new recruits are no better than Josh-level from the line.Completely agree, and it’s not a knock on those guys whatsoever, just shouldn’t build them up to be something their numbers don’t say they are.
