Had that thought, but considering the number of pgs we have been linked to still - I'd say it is unlikely. Maybe plan B.

Of course they're still out there looking. If they played VBJ at PG, there's still only three on the roster in total.

Those legs will go quick unless you find another person to chew up 15+ mpg. Dinkins is unproven and I'm not sure anyone is comfortable with Polite getting that much right now. Maybe he takes that next step, but who knows?

And just to be clear: I think the ideal situation for CKE is VBJ playing a more hybrid role, but he's been aware of him since high school when he was recruited (by CKE, I'd imagine) as a true PG.

I would like to think we have one of the best sales pitches to any transfer PG on the court.

I wonder if we’re losing out on them due to the schools offering crazy NIL deals off the court

Are we sure Victor Bailey wasn't brought in to give us at least 20 mpg at point? He was a PG coming out of high school and it's possible CKE's pitch was that he'd be able to play the 1 here.

Good point. Probably not 20 mpg there but maybe if things go to shit (injuries/poor play) or with some big lineups. Supposed to be more viable option than Cooper there.

Need him off the ball scoring though, mostly.

There are several people on this site who would be heavily criticizing Paulsen if he lost a recruit to Coppin St.

Come on man. Yeah we’d be criticizing because it wouldn’t just be Coppin State. It would also be other random low majors or kids who had Mason as one of two offers. I’m being nice but there are also plenty of Paulsen transfers who are still available and I’m still betting one of them drops down to d2. English out recruited Paulsen the first week he showed up by taking Schwartz.

Also, not everything makes the boards. As it’s been hinted to, there’s reasons why Sessoms went there and Mason backed off. This may look the same but by no means is it anywhere close.

Others may not be as kind lol.

I was vocal about Paulsen’s recruiting, but more so about who we landed rather than who we didn’t. Kim has already brought in a handful of guys who we never had a shot with under Paulsen. Paulsen’s strength was finding some diamonds in the ruff - Kim’s strength is landing the bigger fish. Two different approaches, but one has a much higher ceiling than the other.

You should be a lot more concerned about campaigning to get DP a D3 job again since he has been turned down for everything since he left Mason. We are glad he’s gone even when “losing” recruits to Coppin St.

I really liked Paulsen. I really wanted it to work out, and I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he gets back to coaching and has success somewhere else in D1. But by year 2, Kim will only have 3 Paulsen players left on the roster.

And from the outside looking in, it appears that we have lost recruits to Coppin St, Bowling Green, and ECU. But as Kaufman said, bringing in a top 100 freshman and legit P5 transfers has earned a little trust from the fan base.

The most important development for this team this year will be KE's as a coach, but he is already where he needs be as a recruiter. I think we are all concerned about the 1 and the 4 spot for next year. But let's wait and see who fills these last scholarships before we criticize what may already be the best recruiter we've ever had.

And for what it is worth @ephoops , I think Paulsen did recruit a fringe NCAA tournament worthy squad if you have Kier, Kolek, Miller, Oduro, Wilson, and Greene all playing together last year.

Yeah...Paulsen was a likeable guy and I liked the hire in part because he brought Muscala to Bucknell. In the end though, he never brought in a big man that was as good as Larranaga's guys. Still - I want to see success on the court before I'm convinced in English.
