Let's see what PG we do get before calling it a loss to Coppin St.

Losing to Coppin State is a contradiction in terms. I still have faith this will turn out for the best.

the environment at Penn State is very different from East Baltimore - in both good and bad ways

I’m not panicking yet, but you’ve hit the nail on the head. It’s a classic Let’s Make a Deal situation. Sometimes taking the sure thing is the better deal than risking to see what’s behind door number 2. While it might be a brand new car, it also might a zonk. It’s a pretty big gamble. Obviously I hope it works out and door number 2 is sweet trip to Europe or something.

I don’t think this is what tblack was meaning. I’m pretty sure he wanted to take what we had behind door number 1 out back and shoot it like most of us. He’s just worried that door #2 might also be a hoopty. Legit anyone that we ve even talked to will give more than Hartwell, I’m just hoping they snag someone better than XJ (maybe they already have with Dinkins?)

I think we are saying the same thing - maybe my analogy or love of Let’s Make a Deal wasn’t as clear. As the music starts to fade, we are going to need a dance partner. We got power 5 schools that reach out to every fricking kid with a pulse. This isn’t an easy process.

I don’t think anyone really wants to gamble on a freshman point guard being able to come in and run the team without an insurance policy (grad transfer) to push him for the job if Dinkins isn’t ready. Maybe he comes in like Kolek and just takes the spot - would love that. Would be nice to have a legit grad transfer in case he needs a year.

And I have no idea about Sessoms. Maybe the staff did some research and found he wasn’t a match to what Kim wants. I don’t know. I do know the point guards we have been linked to are slowly starting to dwindle. The good ones have a ton of competition attached to them. I’m impatient. I don’t want to end up with some kid from the SWAC who averaged 5.8 points a game.

Don't need a stud, just a guy with decent length who can shoot and has okay handles.

We'll get somebody but you guys have to just simply accept a lot depends on the development of Polite and/or Dinkins.

Polite hasn't developed yet? I know he was injured. At one point I think he was 100%. And the game was still to fast for him.

And I know Patriot8 has connections to the staff, but they aren’t going to come out and say “man, we lost a kid to Coppin St - that one hurt”. Of course they are going to spin it and say we weren’t interested or he’s not our main target.

He's played 33 career games, can't go to bars yet, has had two coaches in two years, and hasn't had a healthy offseason yet (that's when you get better).

It is theoretically possible. Believe it or not also, Justin Kier is still better at college game 150 than he was at 30.

You actually keep developing in the NBA too...in fact that's why they have a #######mental league, forget what its called...

I think we can all be honest and admit if the staff thought a combo of Polite and freshman-version Dinkins was good enough, they wouldn’t have been publicly connected to so many older PGs who obviously are being offered starter-level minutes.

Whether we land one of them remains an open question, but Plan A for 22-23 in no way relies on the development of Polite/Dinkins.
