Mizzou Man

Walk-On
Recruiting 4 stars and portal studs gets you into the top 4 consistently in the A10, which means bids and job security. Recruiting 4 stars and portal studs in the SEC is table stakes. If Kimmie wants the ramp to learn how to build a program first he'll stay. I'm a little concerned that he's a much more legitimate candidate than we'd like to think he is, though. If he really is the next big thing and Mizzou didn't give him a long hard look they'll look like idiots in a few years.

I don't think it is just Mizzou that has interest either. Kim English was mentioned several places in connection with the Kansas State job. There was talk on KC Sports radio. I am sure they at least touched base. From the sounds of their search they are zeroing in on Jerome Tang/Chris Jans/Todd Golden though. Also Tulsa fans have mentioned Kim a lot. That one doesn't make sense to me and I happen to think highly of the Tulsa Hurricane job. I don't know if he would be on South Carolina or Mississippi State's list but I think there is preliminary interest from several places. He has a big personality and he played in the Big XII and has been assistant in the AAC, Pac 12, and SEC so a lot of people are familiar with him.

The thought of him at K-State makes me feel worse than it would for you all I bet. I don't want him next door at a place that is some sort of regional rival. He was right there with Dana Ford as a finalist for the Missouri State job several years ago and I was really happy that he was passed over on that one.

Several people linked by the media to our job play tonight: Jeff Linder from Wyoming in the NCAA's and Grant McCasland (North Texas) and Dana Altman (Oregon) in the NIT. I am kind of hoping for some losses there so we can get a quicker resolution.

Because they are the little brother in their own city and I don't believe that Mooney can recruit well enough to consistently win at a high level. Football will always be the priority. I do love that arena though.

You and Jim have a wildly disparate view on how essential facilities are to a program's success...

I disagree with your assessment of UR, also.

It’s not really facilities as much as overall university investment. Unless you hire exceptional or incompetent people, I believe you generally get what you pay for.

I understand the relative importance of facilities. I work for an SEC School that is about to build a waterpark for the football team.

I just view Mason's ceiling as higher than Richmond's. I grew up in Richmond, been to plenty of Spider games, I love the renovated Robins Center, and the new practice facility sounds awesome. Maybe it's me being a homer, but I view Richmond as a program that we should beat 70% of the time.

Mason needs to stop hemming and hawing on what to do about an arena and phase 2. They COULD be a top job (not THE top job), but they need to figure out those two things first. In the meantime, it would be nice for a coach to figure out a way to win some games and get the community excited again. If Kim bails on us after one year, it’s going to be a real long slog to rebuild the program.

Kim English will not be scared away from the other SEC coaches. He will take the Mizzou job, if offered. Money, kids, and alma mater will be too much to pass on.

Kids are off limits. Your rule.

Doesn't say anything about him being related to the "Peterson" who played for Mason!!

You all should look at ACC Assistants. Chris Caputo comes to mind.

You referring to Alabama?

Where did you go to HS in the 804? You sound like a Chesterfield guy.
