2020 Recruiting

I see it hurting Kier and his flat footed three the most. I think JDS is the only guy that has showed any range on his shot outside the previous 3 pt. Line.
I know it will affect the current guys. But I meant more to ask: what will the impact on recruiting/roster building be? It’s a rule that is supposed to force teams to spread the floor. But who will that benefit most? Will it open up driving lanes, so we should look for more athletes? Will it allow more inside-out play, so we should look for more post-scorers? Or will good shooting just be that much more valuable?

Moreover, is this one of the reasons we may consider adding Kolek in addition to Polite?

He did a breakdown on why he chose these schools as his top 10. One of the things he mentioned in almost all of them is their playstyle.

If you're insinuating this recruit disliked our style of play, doesnt Clemson play a similar style?

I actually wasn’t insinuating anything. We weren’t going to get this kid regardless. I do not like seeing 3 fellow A-10 teams in his top 10. He did leave the Bonnie’s out too. He seemed to throw style of play in his breakdown often. We certainly don’t play the same style as a decent amount of those schools but it is likely if a school like UVA came calling they would have made his top 10 and he might have said he likes their style of play.

Interesting, the Bonnies play a pretty complicated offense. Maybe he just likes uptempo on both sides of the ball.

Team that recently won a national championship? Great comparison. Lower level teams that play the style aren't going to be attractive to a lot of recruits.

I don't think DP has a style. Perhaps that's the biggest problem for recruits. Defensively, last year we started pressuring the passing lanes and playing a more aggressive man to man despite having a transfer from UVA who knew the pack line defense very well, and also despite having played pack line in DP's every year here. That change probably cost us several losses to start the year.

Offensively, I have no clue what his style is. Pick n Roll and dribble it off your foot or jack up a 40 footer?

Recruits can't see themselves in this. Recruits that we get, for the most part, we get b/c they'd rather play in A10 vs CAA or lower level Mid Major Conf, more so than for DP.

why is Paulson so guard oriented, he builds a large part of his program around guards. OK, every team needs strong point and shooting guards, but why can't he recruit/sign reasonably strong big men. Sure I agree we don't seem to have what it takes to get the 4 star players, but cant he find players like Mike Morrison, Ryan Pearson, Will Thomas, Jalen Jenkins. Who is going to crash the boards and get easy put backs. Hey maybe I'm all wet, but this team needs to be better balanced. Maybe why they are so poorly ranked for this coming year.

I don’t think it’s that bad right now. If you consider Calixte and Oduro your 5s and Mar and AJ your 4s and then AJ can slide into the 5 if necessary and Miller can slide over to the 4 if necessary. We should have plenty of forwards.

The questions: Mar isn’t a very good rebounder from the 4. Oduro is inexperienced and can’t really be counted on for anything (but we will see). Calixte can’t hit FTs. AJ is undisciplined and gets himself out of position. Miller was pushed around defensively by bigger 4s

So player-wise, we’ve got the numbers. Depth wise (effectiveness) is a question.

It's a guard conference.
