Can't pay two coaches when you might have to furlough workers in the AD and you're not certain there's going to be a season next year. Also, how are you gonna make a good hire when you can't meet candidates face to face?
I've had this debate on twitter recently and I'm amazed people think there's another side to this. Coaching turnover is historically low for a reason.
The budget thing was a joke. But Fordham is really in flux since they're AD just "retired." Are we for sure the associate AD is a permanent hire?
I don't know how concerned I would be about doing an interview over Skype or Zoom as opposed to face-to-face (I interviewed two summers ago over Skype for a job at a university in Germany, so yeah, there are some weird technical things that go into it, but other than having to navigate Germany to Arizona time difference, it wasn't that bad -- I was able to complete my entire presentation virtually, share screen, open documents, take them through sample lesson plans, etc.).
