2020 A10 Transfer List

Probably Will Wade and Mike Rhoades broke that program, but I do like taking the credit for it.
Think more of that fact that Wade was only there for 2 years which causes a lot of roster and personel changes. Then the school tried to maintain a similar style by hiring from the same Shaka coaching tree in Rhoades. I cant tell if Rhoades is a good or bad coach. I mean he did win the regular season the year they were supposed to suck after losing Mo Ali-Cox, Jordan Bugress, JeQuon Lewis and Samir Doughty. But then this year they were supposed to run the table.

Jury definitely still out on Rhoades. His best player went through his like 6th ACL surgery and was never the same, Jenkins mysteriously is a no show most games and then leaves the team right before the end of the season, Vann had family issues all year and lost all basketball ability. The team was carried by a really good freshman and MSS. Who knows what next season brings without MSS and the rest of those seniors. Bones Hyland will be an elite A10 guard if he sticks around but the rest of that roster is mostly mystery at this point. They have a damn good recruiting class but we have seen first hand the trials of continually handing out too many mins to freshmen.
Rhoades has only made the tournament once in his first three years. That’s unacceptable at vcu.
Maybe it just means Div III coaches should stay there or at most be assistants?

Marcus Santos-Silva is not in the transfer portal as a graduate transfer, source told ESPN. I'm told graduating in three years and being immediately eligible is the goal, but he does have a few classes to take in the summer.

College basketball’s transfer rate is the second-highest in the NCAA among male sports, where approximately 33% of players transfer at some point in their collegiate career. In short, transfers have become a vitally important aspect of college basketball. Adding players from the transfer market to fill out rosters can sometimes mean the difference between winning a national championship and suffering an early tournament defeat. Losing players via transfer also carries a similar importance.
In order to get a better understanding of how transfers affect college basketball teams, we decided to take a deep dive into the data. Using Verbal Commits’ transfer database (which dates back to 2012), we were able to compile a big picture overview of: players’ transfer destinations, how conferences are impacted as a whole, the average recruiting rankings of the players that transfer, and whether players are transferring to teams that are better or worse than their previous teams."
"Nearly 60% of transfers, instead of joining other D-I teams, have left D-I basketball completely since the 2012 offseason. Then comes Conference USA, which has added 92 players. The ACC leads all power conference teams with 83 players transferring into the conference over the last six years. Only three players have transferred to Ivy schools.
The idea that college basketball players tend to transfer to better teams is almost entirely a myth."

I mean, it's not like Fordham gets a significant portion of its budget from NCAA tournament money.
Can't pay two coaches when you might have to furlough workers in the AD and you're not certain there's going to be a season next year. Also, how are you gonna make a good hire when you can't meet candidates face to face?
I've had this debate on twitter recently and I'm amazed people think there's another side to this. Coaching turnover is historically low for a reason.
