Jason really does have a fundamentally perfect jump shot, but he’s also a plus athlete.

Just saw video of him throwing down a dunk at a HS tournament. He’s only 6-2 but he was way up there.

Jordan Miller and Loudoun Valley are in Myrtle Beach, SC for the Panther Classic. I’ve searched, but haven’t been able to find any box scores (1/3/18 points have been updated), but the Vikings won their first two games pretty easily. Today, they play Conway who is undefeated and ranked #2 in SC - they are led by Jimmy Nichols who is going to Providence. They also have a handful of D1 football players on the team - should be a good one.

Game 5 - win over Christ Church 71-42 - Miller Had 18

Game 6 - win over High Point Christian 80-60 - Miller had 15

Loudoun Valley took the L vs Conway 59-46 after being up 2 at half. No box score again (updated on 1/3/18):

Game 7 - loss vs Conway SC 59-46 - Miller had 11

Mt. Vernon played yesterday too. Douglas-Stanley continues to score at will - pretty remarkable what he’s doing.

Game 9 - win 88-60 over Spring Valley - Douglas-Stanley with 36 points.

What’s remarkable to me is our staff wasn’t even recruiting him, went to watch Calixte, said “Hey this No. 20 is pretty good,” started following him and sealed the deal in the early period.

I know he’s only 6-2 and that’s “too short” for a SG in the P5 leagues, but he plays for a very well-known program against credible competition and he can flat out shoot it from deep. I can’t believe he didn’t have an offer better than the CAA.

Then there's a good possibility something about D-S's game requires a priority fix. I point to Calixte, who looks pretty good as a Freshman learning to contribute in the paint, but by the looks of his free-throw prowess, I'm sure that's a big part of his level of offers (or lack of higher-end offers). I'm hoping that, like GoMar, that it's a matter of Mason getting to D-S first and forming a strong relationship with him. Those are the players Coach Dave and we fans want.

I'm sure p5s would be at his games now if he wasn't committed yet

I just think P5 schools see Jason as a classic tweener, a SG trapped in a PG’s body.

Same as Ryan Pearson, he had a monster senior year at CTK and P5 schools started paying attention, but by that point he was signed and wasn’t gonna break his commitment.

Wouldn't part of that be the fact that he's a 6'2 shooting guard?

According to Rivals, he did have offers from New Mexico, ODU, and St. Bonaventure, which are all pretty comparable programs to us.

Beats the heck out of me—my statement above was rhetorical.

6'2" shooting guards in HS often play the 1 or the 2 in college. Wasn't John Vaughn a shooting guard? I stood next to him once and he was barely taller than me, and I'm 5'11".

Don't NCAA small forwards often become NBA shooting guards or point guards?

My point is you either have skills and athletic ability to
play or not play. Certainly, those skills and abilities transfer to higher levels, but often they are utilized to fit a certain style of play. Am I wrong?

My other point is, in the form of more rhetoric, why did P5 recruiters pass on D-S? I'm glad we got him—sounds like a steal to me!

Both guys were back in action:

Jason Douglas-Stanley
Game 10 - win over Fox Lane 74-49 - JD-S had 20

Jordan Miller
Game 8 - win over Loudoun County 88-41 - JM had 20

It looks like it might be Jason’s birthday today. Also, some of Jordan’s old games have been updated with his point totals.
