Good god! From what I see on his twitter, I hope it's not Mason. This guy looks like nothing but ego and trouble. He may be more ready to contribute on the court than any big we've got, but he wouldn't be worth the headache. Definitely not a guy that I foresee buying in to "burning his boat".
Have you seen AJ Wilson's Twitter

To me they both post a lot of stuff on Twitter because they are bitter they never got the big opportunity to play for a premiere program. They have a chip on their shoulder and are looking to prove all the doubters wrong. That's exactly who I want on my team

What's so bad? I just looked and just saw retweets of articles with his name in it.

I'm not talking about having a chip on his shoulder. I'm talking about him being coachable, eliminating distractions, being a good ambassador for the school, servant leadership - all the things Paulsen is selling to our players. From what I've seen, AJ has bought in and his social media is perfectly fine.

One of the main reasons that the program is turning around is that Paulsen is establishing his culture here. If Akiean commits to Mason, he is going to have to buy in to Paulsen's way of doing things. I don't want to judge him too harshly, but from what other posters have said about his red flags and from what I see on his social media, I have my doubts that he would be a good fit here.

AJ Wilson had offers from Penn State and Wake Forest, among others, and was being looked at hard by Maryland, if I remember correctly.

He could have played in the ACC or Big 10 if he wanted to.

Wake Forrest nor penn state have been relevant in years. Maryland never gave him an offer. The whole reason he was so late to committing to Mason was because he was holding out for a big time offer. The offer never came.

Why tf is AJ being put on trial here..

Not by me.

And by the way, Wake Forest just made the NCAA tournament this year with an RPI of 39 with most of its contributors being sophomores and juniors.

I don't know why we can't just celebrate a recruiting win and feel the need to find cracks in every single person's profile.

Yeah. My bad. For the record, I think Paulsen has done an outstanding job finding and developing guys that fit into his vision for the program. Obviously the staff would not have offered a guy that they think would be a problem along those lines. I think all of our current players should be commended for how they represent the program. I love seeing the team photos of our guys at the soup kitchens, homeless shelters, etc. It makes me proud to be a patriot. I look forward to more of that in the future and more winning basketball.

I for one am very pleased with the Calixte signing. He should be able to help pretty much right away. Without Jenkins to lean on, it will need to be more of a front line by committee, with Temara, Relvao, Calixte, and Wilson to a degree. Paulsen's track record makes it clear he is not a fan of signing anything but freshmen. We'll see if anyone else is added before next season, but I have doubts it will be a JUCO guy. That said, I personally would like to see a JUCO signed for the next 2 years.

The staff is trying to find somebody who can help in the short term, but the big picture is still the priority.

DP is here for the long haul and he's not going to risk screwing up the program's culture/chemistry by gambling on somebody who doesn't fit.

As much as we look like a team that is one big guy away from an NCAA contender, we're not in desperation mode by any means.

There are still many cards to be played this offseason and Mason holds two. Won't be surprised if we get a grad transfer big, won't be surprised if we don't.

But if it takes DP until his fourth year to get to the NCAAs, then we go 7 times in a row like vcu has, I will not complain for one second.

In not putting him on trial. I'm so excited he is playing for Mason. I was selfishly disappointed he red shirted last year because I wanted to see him play.

I'm also super excited for the potential for Frederick. Someone made a stupid comment and said based of his Twitter I hope he doesn't come to Mason.

I tried to make a point to say similar to Fredrick, AJ posts a lot to Twitter. It appears to me both Aj and Frederick have a desire to prove doubters wrong, and I love people who have that mentality. They put in the extra hours to improve themselves.

All that said, I don't think we should judge a recruit based off their Twitter page.
