I barely made it out of Mason with a degree. If I had gone to school in Vegas, I probably wouldn't have made it out alive.
Eh.
Can't wait to watch Livingston torch this kid over the next few years. Otis, my man!
Trying not to overreact to disappointing news, but losing this kid is a really bad look for our program.
You simply have to close the deal with a kid in your backyard when the following items overwhelmingly work in your favor:
* His parents would've been within easy driving distance of all home games and most conference games.
* He had mentioned in published reports that he was looking for immediate playing time -- we can offer that, not so much at Rhody
* There's a chance that Hurley won't even be coaching Rhody when Dowtin enrolls in classes; if they make the tournament and win a couple games, somebody will throw a huge bag of cash at him
It's a cold, hard slap in the face about how far we've fallen that the kid would rather risk getting buried on the bench for two years with an NCAA-caliber team than come here to play major minutes right away and help build the program back up.
I guess we are literally starting over again at square one. Excellent.
I blame Jeff Dowtin not committing 100% on Paul Hewitt. Lamar Butler is this kid's Assistant Coach in HS. If we can't have Lamar Butler send a recruit our way, I don't know who we can sign.

despite the new hire, changes arent seen until the product starts playing. hopefully after a year or so and some a** whippns on URI, guys like Dowtin are walking off the court with their head down saying, damn, I should of gone to Mason.
