GIVING DAY 2023
Sounds like it just may be a road trip to Philly. Still, well worth it to see the Palestra.

According to google it is 2 hours, 41 minutes.

Apparently there are tolls on the way. About $16 worth on the way and $8 coming back. Why the difference I don't know and I got this from a website from 2015. Either way, plan on paying some tolls.
There are some one way tolls only on 95.

As someone who goes to Philly quite often (or at least used to) i can tell you that there is a toll in the middle of Maryland (after the Baltimore that is one way (going north) the other tolls. Baltimore Tunnel and Delaware Turnpike are both ways. Its an easy drive especially on a Saturday morning, from Mason should not take more than 2 hours and 15 min or so. Even if no bus trip i'm sure we will have a good turn out for that game. Plenty of parking garages around the Palestra, and plenty of good restaurants around there too to grab lunch before the game.

Its a beautiful part of town and only about a mile away from Center City. If you've never been to Philadelphia before take some time either before or after the game to explore. that time of year the Christmas Village will be open next to City Hall at Love Park. Great market place with vendors all over the world. lots of food and really gets you in the Christmas spirit. highly recommend it.

Thanks for the info! Me and the wife have wanted to see Philly so maybe a holiday season trip is in order!

You can get around the Delaware toll if you take the exit before the toll and give yourself a 10 minute bypass that goes by the Univ. of Delaware.

Thank you for the information. How much would you guess toll would be, assuming I didn't go by way of Ohio?

Any restaurants you recommend? Like a Brion's-type place?

Well im not too familiar with all of the restaurants in the immediate area, but i just found this place online. The New Deck Tavern, Its a 5 min walk to the Palestra. Looks like a good place to get some lunch and have a couple drinks before the game. Seems the most similar to the food at Brian's. take a look and let me know what you think.

Looks solid. I'll plan on going there before or after the game. Thank you.

McGillins in Center City. It's the oldest bar in town (opened 1860). You'd have to cab/uber to the Palestra, but it's a great spot. We got drinks there before the St. Joe's game two years ago and the La Salle game last year. I'm sure we'll be back the morning of Dec. 10.

McGillins is solid! One time I was there they had $5 pitchers. Every person in the place had their own pitcher.

Hearing that Otis had a bad injury at today's temple scrimmage, could be out 2-3 months

Well fuhhhhhhkkkkkk

Man, not what I needed to hear while watching Miami get blown out by 2-5 Notre Dame.

Who else, other than Moore, can we trust as a primary ball handler with Otis out? I like Tate for a few mins a game, but more so as a compliment to Moore/Otis. Can Kier fill that role?

Chance you take with scrimmages. Totally see why we do them, but in a year that we aren't really fighting for the postseason and with a soft OOC schedule that functions as a preseason, it may have been wise to skip them. Hindsights 20/20 though.

Huge blow but this was a rebuilding season with or without Otis. If it's 2-3 months, I'd redshirt him in a heartbeat. I'd much rather have him for three meaningful seasons rather than half of one where we finish in the bottom half of the league.

Most importantly, it would allow him to fully heal rather than taking any chance of it lingering for a few years.
