I know I'm a bad person for this, but I'm reading the vcu boards right now. I get so much joy over the fact they are busting on Shaka and the program. They're saying how Havoc was a gimmick and other teams were figuring it out - the same stuff that's been said here. I almost feel sorry for them, but then I think of how they acted when they were up 32-4.

That is why there is this thing called confession. :)

Avery Johnson has agreed in principle to be Alabama's basketball coach, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.

The person was not authorized to discuss the move and spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity.

ESPN was the first to report the hire.

Johnson, who had a 16-year NBA career as a player with stints with the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks, among others, last coached in the NBA in 2012, when he was fired just 28 games into the Brooklyn Nets' first season.

Here is something else interesting.

Rumblings are .....Anthony Grant is making a play to McLaughlin to get back to vcu...but its trying to be kept hush since there is so much turmoil down there from Shaka pulling out and throwing the used condom on the program and fans and "gettin out of town immediately." There's a case to be made they need someone from the program to help heal their wretched souls....

I told them it was known Texas was coming to Richmond cause Shaka did not want to go there till the deal was done. Maybe they'll take an interest in this time and not the stupid "winks" of some guy on their boards....

LOL.

Their fans do not want Grant. It appears most want Rhoades, then Wade, then maybe Ballard. Also mentioned are Mike Jones and Jamion Christian. Their AD knows you have to go to the coaching tree of the legend for the first hire.

You mean the AD that was trying to go to UMASS?

Uh huh..he's in charge now,...no God Coach in his way. This is his call. They may very well end up with one of those names...but I do believe the power has now changed hands on who is really running the show and he knows it. Time for him to make his stamp on the program for his next move.

SEC coaching roster is pretty fascinating right now.

In his 9 yrs as a head coach, Grant has gone to 3 NCAAs and 4 NITs. Why do you think he'll be unsuccessful back at vcu?

There is an old saying - You can never go home. AG could be successful but being the first Judas coming after the most loved Judas and not being instantly successful? Kiss of death. Also the legendary fan support (beyond the students) could dry up as people won't be as excited for a face from the past.

In other words - if you go back to the woman you spurned 6 years ago - you could still be the baller she remembers - but do you think that kitty is going to snap an pop like it used to? You'd be lucky to get it doggy style every other year.

Hate to say it, but I think vcu will be completely fine if they hire Rhoades or Wade, maybe a little less so with Grant.

If their message board is correct, it looks like Wade isn't going to be the new coach. Looking more like Rhoades.

Interesting that Mrs. Russell Turner's name came up in the conversation.

Yeah I saw Turners name mentioned. If for some crazy reason it his him...then we will know the whole wife thing was BS...he played us for the raise at UCI...and then took the bigger cash at vcu. Ahole.

Remember when, last week, Texas came into Richmond in a big jet and took Shaka away forever? That was awesome.

I had a dream last night where the plane then nuked Richmond as it was leaving. Most of Richmond was devastated--buildings flattened, roving mutants, total chaos.

Although in the Boulevard/vcu area there was nary a discernible difference pre and post nuke.
