Why we need a GD Hall of Fame Post thread.
Perfect post.

I know I'm a bad person for this, but I'm reading the vcu boards right now. I get so much joy over the fact they are busting on Shaka and the program. They're saying how Havoc was a gimmick and other teams were figuring it out - the same stuff that's been said here. I almost feel sorry for them, but then I think of how they acted when they were up 32-4.
That is why there is this thing called confession.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe University of Houston had the same fate after 5 final fours and decades of success. Major investments followed by a string of bad hires plunged them into debt and NCAA purgatory.
Not confession ... It's schadenfreude. That is why there is this thing called confession.

Avery Johnson has agreed in principle to be Alabama's basketball coach, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.
The person was not authorized to discuss the move and spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity.
ESPN was the first to report the hire.
Johnson, who had a 16-year NBA career as a player with stints with the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks, among others, last coached in the NBA in 2012, when he was fired just 28 games into the Brooklyn Nets' first season.
Their fans do not want Grant. It appears most want Rhoades, then Wade, then maybe Ballard. Also mentioned are Mike Jones and Jamion Christian. Their AD knows you have to go to the coaching tree of the legend for the first hire.
For the record, I hope vcu hires Grant. Grant will be their Hewitt.

In his 9 yrs as a head coach, Grant has gone to 3 NCAAs and 4 NITs. Why do you think he'll be unsuccessful back at vcu?
If their message board is correct, it looks like Wade isn't going to be the new coach. Looking more like Rhoades.Hate to say it, but I think vcu will be completely fine if they hire Rhoades or Wade, maybe a little less so with Grant.

Interesting that Mrs. Russell Turner's name came up in the conversation.
